What was this scene from

BSG when they were about to rescue the people on New Caprica from the cylons. It is the Galatica making an atmospheric entry to draw attention away form other ships that are picking up the people (IIRC).

You got the show and episode right, but the plan was (iirc of course ;) ) to "jump in" just inside atmo* (to avoid attack from the Cylon Base Stars*), launch the fighters and then jump out again (before burning up or crashing into the planet). Or something like that :) (there was more to the plan that escapes recall at the moment).

* breaking two Traveller rules, jumping to inside 100D (which imtu is possible, with noted hazards) and apparently no ortillery allowed (which...

EDIT: Sigh, some kind of odd text clippage happened there :(

...struck me as rather odd).

Yeah, but it is one of the best friggin scenes from the whole run of the show (if not the best)! :D

I think the closest you could do in Traveller is jump in with a frackin' huge inbound velocity, coming out right on the 100d limit, launch the fighters, then jump out before you hit 10d.

Agreed (with the "one of" at least, I've still got a season to catch up on :) )

Funnilly enough, nothing from the last season has grabbed me from an action scene perspective aside from this and the Tylium refinery attack during the episode "Hand of God" (from season 1, I think). Lots of other cool dramatic moments, but as for action, those two stick out for me.

Well, just in case you haven't had your fix or BSG or haven't seen this...

It'll take a bit to load, but the top one is pour vous!

Heh, what's with the drunk pilot trying to dock that sweet looking sleek dart ship :) C'mon guy line up the boarding arm and shut it down. Stop the roller coaster ride, the pax are getting sick and the dock-master is getting nervous.

I really like the Scylla concept super freighter just a little ways down the page.
