Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
Not necessarily. The first edition of the game had antiquated tech/engineering and MgT had it. I'm sure T5 has it as Marc is probably not an eng/sci guy by training but probably something like a history/psychology type of guy. Which is why he wrote an RPG that is popular.
Ya just have to fix what is behind the times in each edition. Like drone TL requirements being about 3-4 TLs too high
Om another note. CE/MgT HG capital ship design rules can be used with smaller ships as they published small craft using Capital ship design elements like aero fins. This is for someone (forgot who) who said one could NOT use SRD HG rules to design a J1 drive for 100t ship as it was HG capital ship design rules.
MgT has three distinct ship design systems separated by size: Small Ships (Core), Capital Ships (HG), and Small Craft (HG). In addition there is a chapter in HG with components for all spacecraft called "Spacecraft Options".
Each system has brief rules for what components can be included from other systems, except the Core system since the other systems did not exist when it was written.
Hence the Core System can't use Capital Ship System drives, and the Capital Ship System can't be used to build 100 Dt ships since it starts at 2001 Dt ships.
Note that Aerofins is from the Spacecraft Options chapter and is available in all design systems, it has nothing to do with the Capital Ship System.
Yes, it is ridiculous, but that is unfortunately RAW. If you use Capital Ship percentage drive in a small ship it would be a house-rule.
It takes two to tango in conversations, and, especially on the internet in a medium as dry and limited as a casual text posts, things get lost.
People talk past each other all the time on forums such as this. It's usually helpful when the boats are sailing apart to tack a bit and try to get closer.
This class of small craft is also often found on large yachts. For side trips to places of interest in the system or as a way for one group to split off from the mother craft and do their own thing.
