But it seems quite clear to me that he still isn't able to get things running in a timely manner - a year's gap, followed by "I'm back", followed by another four months of silence and lack of communication isn't particularly encouraging, and the problem is that this really doesn't do anything to inspire confidence that he can get things really back up and running. We know he is around right now, but he really does need to start communicating with people (preferably authors) right now and get the large backlog of material cleared away and published.
hear hear.

I posted a request for a "State of the Imperium" address in the Website Issues board, let's see if that gets any results...

Mal, I'm not so sure that there is much of a 'large backlog'. Submissions used to come through me and I've not handled any in as long as I rememmber. Technically I suppose I'm still the line editor dude, so I would expect to know if anything came in.

What needs to happen first is to solicit something. I know there was a call for submisions a while back. Nothing came through me but that doesn't mean nothing came in.

This is something that I think needs to happen as a matter of urgency... and maybe it is, just unbeknown to me. Though my status remains nebulous... I've said I'm still willing to work with QLI but nothing has really been discussed. I'm sort of in limbo on that subject, like many others.

There were a bunch of projects in the works but they were mine and I took them to Avenger. The remainder would be T20 players' book and 2320. The latter we know about.

The former... I wrote it long ago and there's been a draft on my computer for 18 months to 2 years which I seem to recall was complete but I've not been looking at. It could probably be published fairly quickly, if Hunter and I can agree terms and generally do the admin part.

Other than those two, I don't know about other product. As I've commented before, I've indicated that I'm willing to work with QLI and I was the source of 90% of the product line, so I *would have expected* some discussion of further products by now. The fact that that hasn't happened suggests that Hunter is not in a position to consier it just yet. So, we're all going to have to wait a bit longer.

Hm, I guess a lot of the other licenced products slipped by the wayside then, those were what I was thinking about when I meant "backlog".

Hmmm intriguing.....

I must say that "if" Avenger and yourself Martin "had" come to some agreement over 2320AD then at least it would/could have been out by now, OK so not for the T20 system but still a living game again. From what I have seen and been involved in by Avenger/Comstar I know that it would be of good quality and add to that the high quality work already done upto now.

Also this might be of some interest, I use a lot of the game shops in the UK and so know the staff to talk to at the big London ones.
They have had a lot of problems getting hold of the T20 books of late and other than the core book I have only seen them in 1 shop that being a shop (I can't actually remember its name now :( ) in Norwich.

Rog.

maybe something can be 'legally entered into' re: contracts for future submissions in respect to 'failure to publish in a timely manner' etc... probably a useless thought but one of mine all the same. Totally agree with Malenfant. hunter needs to communicate before somebody does some hard core bitching to Marc Miller. under the right conditions rights CAN be rescinded. I don't mind being patient but I'd like to see some movement at least. Even if I have to help Hunter out physically myself.

Good point TWILIGHT, there are a lot of people who use this forum and also quite a few people who have access (well not ATM) to the moot.
If Hunter needs some breathing space then just ask around im sure that people would be more than willing to do some donkey work and let him get on with the contract parts that need sorting out(re:OP).

Waylands forge in Birmingham, UK have the T20 book and a few of the travellers aides and the gateway sourcebook and also the 1248 stuff (it's where I've bought mine).

incidentally, 1 cartographer/layout artist right here willing to help on a small scale basis if needs be.

Yeah I get my stuff now direct from the companies but still use Leisure Games, Orcs Nest & Playing Games in London for other things, of these Leisure Games is the one of choice.

To add General Dog's Body available as well

The founding of a 'Traveller's Citizen Collective' anyone? Maybe if we speak with one voice Hunter will appreciate the depth of feeling of us fans and feel warmed by our support (and maybe he wouldn't be bombarded by pm's etc). a sounding board for fans directly to hunter and QLI if you will. We're all here to help and I'm not sure there is much we can do but I'm sure we need an opportunity to do something to help this project along as much as Hunter needs support. Maybe with an 'Imperial Citizens Union' or something people could vent their fustration in a more positive way rather than the ridiculous death threats (I still can't believe thats happened... unbelievable.) I should point out this is an idea only and I'm not trying to put anyones nose out of joint. Just an idea but as a member of the 'join me' collective I can tell you they work for the most part.

I always worked on a handshake with QLI. Every other client had contracts. From here on I will be wanting a contract in writing, along with a 'failure to publish' clause.

I don't know anything about the fate of Honor Harrington, Legacy of the Aldenata etc. Common sense suggests that the lights went out and they quietly died some time ago, but I have no information.

I was last involved in these about 2 years or more ago. My guess is that the window of opportunity for them has passed, but I have no actual information.

Honor Harrington? That's easy, Ad Astra Games picked up the RPG rights (they've already got the miniatures wargaming rights)and is working a game using the D6 engine.

Actually, Ken's got the non-d20 rights. As far as I know there's been no statement so far on the QLI d20 license.

I posted a request for a "State of the Imperium" update from Hunter on the 19th. If he really was back, he would have seen that. The fact that there has been no response from him whatsoever seems to indicate that he actually is not "back" at all. He announced his return in October 2006, and then disappeared. He resurfaced earlier in January 2007, and now seems to have disappeared AGAIN. Frankly, I am not impressed - he is seriously dropping the ball here.

Maybe he does still have problems of his own, but they are seriously interfering with business here - he is letting a lot of people down by making premature announcements of his return, and I for one am rapidly losing sympathy.
