You can shave an inch off with no one noticing... because each is losing under 1/4". a 1/4" thick steel wall is structural... Move it 4" into the entry area to allow for conduits, and put two facing each other, entry area to entry area, and it's ALMOST a workable space.
I have always thought the GT barracks was stupidly tight... but I'd never done the 3d study to allow for it.
Also, normally I work in metric, and presume a deck floor to ceiling of 3m, but decktop-to-decktop of 3.1m, specifically to allow for structure.
