Air/raft size

SOC-13
On page 235, under "Sample Chassis Types", Air/Raft is list as 4,000vl.

On page 301, the size of an air/raft is listed as 6,000vl.

Evening eclipse,

There have been posts on other equipment that have been referenced back to Classic Traveller Book 5: High Guard, which edition I'm not sure of. Looking at the air/raft in my HG, copyright 1980, the vehicle's weight is 4 tons or 5400vl (1350 x 4)/5600 vl (1400 x 4). My guess is that the sample on p. 235 is for a light air/raft chassis and the one on p. 301 is a heavy air/raft chassis.

Hmm, IIRC, the air/raft in THB is listed at 4000vl, but the PRESSURIZED air/raft is 6000vl. So, they may be forgetting to specify which type. Just a thought.

Hello Dorodin,

From the Standard Vehicles and Robots Table on p. 284, Chapter 13 of THB:

</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Vehicle/Robot TL Size
Air/raft 8 6000vl
Pressurized Air/Raft 8 8000vl</pre>
However, I think you have the right idea, how about this the 4000vl chassis is a single/dual seat model. Sort of like cars: Mini, compact, mid or sports car, sedan, station wagon,...,etc.

Here are examples from a couple of the other Traveller systems:

TNE: Rulebook p. 363 (Open), p. 364 Encolsed
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Vehicle TL Size
Air Raft (Open) 10 28 kiloliters = 28000 liters
Enclosed Air Raft: 12 42 kiloliters = 42000 liters</pre>
The above weights are minus cargo capacity.

Marc Miller's Traveller (aka T4) p. 84
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Vehicle TL Size 1400/1350
