As promised, my first deck plan!

Typo? Garage - should be at the bow, not stern?
I was going to mention the engineering cabins privacy, but you beat me to it.
Good stuff.

You've got quite a class A starport going there :)

One minor problem I see on the Far-Trader (one I've done myself) is a hatch doesn't line up one deck to the next. The one for between the Air/Raft garage and the corridor below is shifted one square fore/aft. Easy to fix on this one :)

Instead of the extra corridors on the bottom level to get from port to starboard, why not have the crew to starboard and the passengers to port on both levels.

This always annoyed me about the Far Trader plans but I don't have the talent to draw my own.

I don't recall if I considered this, but looking at it now, it doesn't add up. Got to have the captain's room on the port side, bridge starboard due to the original plan I think. Easily swapped, but then there are only three "crew" staterooms, looks like I would still end up with too many crew vs. passenger rooms.

Good idea, if I completely tried again I would try this. I also had too much room aft, couldn't move the cargo bay any further back I think due to the shape of the outter hull. I would have extra baggage in the trunk I would need to get rid of, two crew staterooms was my solution (pun intended).

Ack! And I thought I looked over everything. Will change this when I get a chance. Thanks!

And yes I have seen a few typos in the text, I will need to go through it again.

EDIT: Moved the hatch and corrected quite a few typos in the text. Thanks guys.

I mentioned this over on the Mongoose forum, but since you seem to get more response from this forum, I will post it here as well.

I think the Far Trader needs a more sloped nose. It is not very aerodynamic as drawn and would have some major maneuvering problems in atmo.

Also, I noticed that neither turret can fire directly aft due to the shape of the hull... That is from the original design, I know, but you might want to move one of the turrets aft so that it can fire straight aft.

Love the detail (the potted plant in the pax lounge is great).

Ah didn't know your name over here.

I based my design on the classic look: Blunt nosed Far Trader

There is a more aerodynamic look out there, an excellent artist's conception, but I can't find a link now. It is probably what you would prefer. The noses are less blunt and more wedge shaped. I know my external views are very, very lacking (my graphic of the front of the Far Trader is almost laughable). I am no artist at all, I make the external views just to show where all the doors, ports, windows, etc line up with the deck plans.

I like staying with the classic styles if I can, even if they are deficient (such as the turret location you mentioned).

Well the turret location isn't a problem imo, just a couple degrees down angle off axis and you have a clear shot aft. Per MT/SOM you can maintain full direct thrust even off axis a few degrees. Or, given the length of a combat turn and the anticipated jinking involved in evasive maneuvers, you fire during the many times your angles are clear.

The Empress Marava class Far Trader was designed (?), or at least illustrated by William H. Keith IIRC. It was on the cover of Megatraveller Journal #4 as well as earlier works. MTJ 4 had the Keith adventure Lords of Thunder in it... should be able to scare up a cover image. It was also done as a MT deckplan... google an image of the Empress Marava far trader should do it.

edit: Yep. Google images for the cover of DGP MTJ 4 and Seeker Game Systems Empress Marava deckplans cover popped up. I like your floorplan btw, but the Keith version of the exterior (with a Millenium Falcon style cockpit) is just right. Hits me right in the nostalgia :) I know I have the MTJ, but I don't think I bought the floorplan from SGS.

I have plans to update the noses of my Far Trader external view that won't change the deck plan. It wll make the nose more sleek just by reducing some headroom on the top deck. I inadvertly left out armor (of the MGT design I used to make these plans) and thus made my stateroom dtons slightly too large (but well within the 10% rule!), so this may actually get me even closer to the exact 200 dtons.

I will have it updated in the next couple days.
