Bathtub! An adventure seed for Scouts

The SWM welders showed me that they had ground on this sponson to weld a frame holding a motor-generator set to the deck per the work order only to find that there was like 30 coats of paint and rust for a deck.

Back in the early 90s I did some work on boiler safety valves and other components aboard a few decommissioned Knox-class fast frigates Turkey had been suckered into buying. When they tried to install the vibration "boot" between the hull mounted main seawater "scoop" and the main condenser on one of the ships, the entire sections of the flange on the scoop just broke away.

The story of the Kee Bird fits right in here.

That was on NOVA, right? All those decades safe on the ice, all that work to refurbish her, and she's destroyed by a gas leak in the auxiliary generator.

While the work Kee Bird required - if not her fate - would be more in line with that a ship "parked" for 300 years in a cave on a jungle island in a lake in volcano's crater would require IMTU, gchuck's adventure is an excellent one with one of the most unique hooks I've read about in decades. His posts made me wish I had been playing in his sessions.

In this case, envy is the sincerest form of flattery!
