Another option is, if you have it, to use the MT basic CharGen if some other players use Advanced CharGen. There, not only you can gain more skills (for the over 4 rule and the special duty roll), but many skills in Basic Chargen are cascades, allowing you to better fir your character to your taste.
It can be used without any modification, just ignoring the skills that do not exist in CTon the Cascades (e.g. as Intrusion skill is not in CT, ignore it from the Vice cascade list).
I think the only case where skills inexistent in CT are directly given in the basic CharGen tables in MT
H are for the law enforcer, that can receive forensics and Interviow, but those can be changed for Science cascade and Interpersonal cascade respectivelly, as both cascades include the given skill.
