Couple kafer questions.

Howard:
1) Personal attacks are not permitted. They have been edited out.
2) Your question has been answered multiple times. There is no official linkage between the OTU and the 2300U. Your claim of them not being answered amounts to a group attack on everyone who has.

Here is your original question.
Greetings !

As everyone knows, 2300 AD was originally called Traveller: 2300. I was asked this by a store clerk at the hobby shop I used to go to, ( FYI - that store closed after the owner died). Since in past published Traveller timelines, the the historical entry covering Twilight: 2000 and 2300 is mentioned in those timelines, the clerk at the hobby shop asked me a question I could not answer. Here is that question: What happened to the Kafers by the time of the Third Imperium?
And here is the answer you have had from half a dozen people at least:

the kafer are an alien race in the Traveller 2300 universe, the Imperium is a political organisation in a completely different game universe.

The kafer DO NOT EXIST IN THE SAME UNIVERSE AS THE IMPERIUM.

Now if you mean what happens to the kafer by the year 5000AD that's a different matter... ;)
As far as I know the fate of the Kafers has never been mentioned or published in any traveller product or magazine article.
It has never been mentioned because Traveller and Traveller:2300/2300AD are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES (sort of ;)), the KAFER DON"T EXIST IN THE OTU OF THE IMPERIUM.
Anybody out there got any theories? Just about anything could be a plausible explanation.

I have a theory - authors writing about the OTU universe in any of its incarnations understand the setting well enough to not include AN ALIEN RACE FROM A DIFFERENT GAME.

(well, most authors - there are some aliens from different games in GT Alien Races ;))

You may as well be asking what happens to the Klingons by the time of the 3rd Imperium.

Howard, here's two official sources.

The first, from Marc Miller's designer's notes in Challenge Magazine #27 in 1986:

THE RELATIONSHIP OF TRAVELLER: 2300 TO TRAVELLER

The common name for Traveller: 2300 and Traveller leaves
some room for confusion, and it helps to clear that sort of thing
up early. Frankly, I consider Traveller one of the best games
ever designed. To quote a recent review, it "set the standard
for science fiction games."

Traveller: 2300 is not advanced Traveller; it is a completely
different game. The similarity of names is due to the continuing
dominant theme in each game: players are travellers to the
stars. Traveller: 2300 is not intended as a direct replacement
for Traveller. They have different backgrounds, different approaches, different rules. Traveller is going to be around for
a long time, and we will continue to support it. Traveller: 2300
is an alternative game system that incorporates new game
technology and a different approach to background. The two
game systems can co-exist and will for years to come.
-Marc W. Miller

And, from Challenge Magazine 34, Lester W. Smith Says on the name change from Traveller 2300 to 2300AD in 1988:

Next, you will notice the difference between the titles. Some people originally confused Traveller: 2300 with Traveller or thought that there was some link intended between the two games. By changing the title to 2300 AD, we put an end to that problem, while at the same
time maintaining the continuity of the releases in the 2300 line.

Let me emphasize here for anyone who might still be wondering: 2300 AD has nothing to do with Traveller. Not only are the rules to the two games much different, the games are set in different "universes," with completely different alien races, different routes of travel between the stars
because the FTL drives in each game operate on completely different theoretical bases, different technologies (there are no grav plates in 2300 AD, for instance), and different themes. Traveller spans the Milky Way galaxy and concerns humanity's struggles to maintain a civilization over that broad reach of space. 2300 AD reaches stars just beyond 50 light-years from Sol and concerns humanity's struggles just to survive among those stars.

Also, I don't recall ANY reference in an official OTU timeline to world war & nuclear exchange on Terra at the close of the 20th century AD. If I remember correctly the Solomani unified relatively peacefully at a later period.

IIRC the Terrans (not yet called Solomani) unified themselves peacefully to jointly meet the Vilani threat, once the Vilani empier was contacted and the Interstellar Wars began, according to official Solomani history.

As I already explained in this thread, none of the pre-contact/future history events in Terran history known to us in Traveller canon also appear in 2300AD. For example, Traveller's Treaty of New York, which transferred control of member nations' military establishments to the UN prior to the first interstellar colonies being founded, most certainly doesn't happen in 2300AD.
