Cowboy Bebop

I've got all of Cowboy BeBop on DVD, excellent stuff which is easily translated to Traveller.

As for Planetes, its my favorite anime series and I've got all of it on DVD and the Manga. That one just screams to become a Traveller game.

Hmmm, as for crossing planetes with traveller, maybe people who commit minor 'space crimes" could be sentenced to vacuum cleaner duty as community service.

And maybe, while vacuum cleaning, a traveller group doing community service finds...something unusual.

Have fun....

Not to pick on CBB or incite flames from it's fhans, but a recent ep had a major flaw in it.

Spike hyperventilated for a second, then took and held a deep breath before bailing out into hard vacc, hoping to board another ship within seconds.

Now hyperventilating to get as much O2 int the blood as possible is a good idea, but trying to hold a deep breath in hard vacc is a heap bad idea as your lungs will likely explode.

Just a little science bit there, wonder if I should send it into mythbusters....

Baro-Trauma

Hi,

I posted something about that episode a few days ago as well. My understanding though is that rather than the lungs exploding, the difference in presssure between what's in your lungs and the near vaccuum of space will instead lead to the air trying to escape through your esophagus as quickly as possible leading to possible damage to the soft tissue of your lungs and throat, which I think is called baro-trauma. Either way though, from the limited info I've read I agree that any attempt to try and hold your breath is likely a very bad idea.

Regards

PF
