CT Azhanti Deck Plan Accuracy

Awesome! That works too; makes a solid original design fit, and your analysis covers much of the inconsistencies.

I hate to say this since I'm kind of a canonista, but I think that when you're working out some of these odd CT designs, it's OK to "fudge" a little so long as it doesn't affect the ship's performance. In your case, the USP won't change from the original, and you've done your best to retain the major components.

Thanks Fox, your's work great too, this is just another way to do it.

I'm with you on that required fudging, no shouts of Heretic will come from this (small c) canonista :)

Now the attendant small craft, wellll, I may have to change the USPs there, they just don't make much sense to me. Of course they could be less than optimal designs on purpose (kickbacks, bribes, whatever) as presented.

But some of them are just wrong :)

...like the fuel shuttles being able to carry 350tons of fuel, er, not with those stats, 330tons is doable, looks like they forgot the bridge tonnage, again, can't recall which one at the moment but one of the original B2 ships suffered the same thing iirc, exactly 20tons short, maybe the Merc Cruiser...

 Yikes! Didn't realize this; now I'll be up all night figuring out which one it is! :p

Can't have that ;)

I thought I'd erased all my margin notes but it looks like I didn't get to that yet, looks like it is the Merc Cruiser as I have noted the cargo is only 60tons rather than 80tons (as the easiest way to find 20tons). But you check me on it if you want to do a little B2 ship design exercise :)

...there's also the chance the error with the Merc Cruiser is because the original (1st ed) had 40ton pinnaces instead of 50ton cutters (difference of 20tons if everything else is the same)

Nah, I believe you. I wasn't really going to stay awake, but I was going to tackle it first chance I got today. ;)

BTW, how are the AHL deckplans coming along?

This has been a very interesting thread. It made me dig out the stats for the FF&S1 version I did which of course made no reference to the deckplans at all. The main thing I noticed under these rules is that technically the fuel shuttles are carried externally which allowed the vessels displacement to be raised to 61600 dt when carrying the shuttles and 60,000 dt without them. This version also carried 60 15dt light fighters, TL14 types prior to the introudction of the Rampants.

If anyone is interested in this version of the TL14 FI it can be found at

Did you get any further with this?

Not much no. Keep meaning to get back to it, and now I was wondering if your new project might have benefited from me finishing it. Not even sure where I left off. Think I had the volumes and the deck assignments/breakdowns more or less figured out and started on some of the deckplans. Can't recall the hurdle that put it on hold off hand. I'll have a hunt for my notes later and update this thread.

(wow, has it really been that long... )
