Errata - that difficult subject

That is what I did with mine. I have retypeset 3 of the books (Referee's Manual, Referee's Companion & Player's Manual) so far.

It only took me 10 minutes to update my Referee's manual with the 2.19 errata.

Where did you get the non-scanned (non image) files? Did you retype the whole thing?

v2.19 said:
On the Stewards formula (Cs), Cs = ((Cc + Ch)/8) + (Cj/50) (drop fractions), where Cc = Command Crew, Ch = High
Passage passengers, and Hj = Middle passage passengers

errata 2.19 uses Cj in one place and Hj in another

 You do know that you will still be doing this when you are 99,
RIGHT?

As proof of my point, you failed to update the date on the site old man.
You are welcome. ;)

Wasn't planning on updating the date on the site. That's the version I meant to post!

I just used the PDFs I got on the MT disc. (Except for the Referee's Manual. The MT disc has the 2nd edition, Drive thru has the 3rd Edition.) Yes, I bought both.

The text was a simple cut & paste (and then fix the fonts & sizes). The charts I ended up redoing, but that was where most of the errata was anyway.

I did each page as a seperate document. I then imported them into Adobe Acrobat, added bookmarks & repaginated it.

If you decide to "roll your own" for YTU, I recommend building by page as opposed to chapter. It makes it easier to add whatever crunchy goodness to YTU that you like.

Errata Referee's Companion - Large Scale Combat

Pg 11 left hand column -
The player now determines morale and initiative levels. The officer’s team, with one elite and one regular, has a morale of (13+7/2)=)10, but has high initiative since it uses the officer’s initiative. The senior NCO’s team also has a morale of 10, but only average initiative. The weapons squad NCO’s team has a morale of (10+7/2=)9 and average initiative.
The two machinegun teams each have a morale of (10 +4/2 =)7 and average initiative.

Formulas should read:
(13+7)÷2=10
(10+7)÷2=9
(10 + 4)÷2=7

Hi Don

Thanks ever so much for the MT Consolidated Errata v2.19 (09/15/10), you deserve a Starbust for Extreme Diligence! I just spotted one tiny omission from the skills list: "Autopistol" which should of course be included under "Handgun".

Cheers, Lindsay Jackson.

Errata on the Errata

Hi Don,

I was looking at the Consoldated Errata, and comparing it to Book 8, because I was trying to figure out contact based locmotion (as you do).

And the pricing for legs in Book 8 robots is Cr 35 per _Litre_ of suspension, while the table in the Errata has is at Cr 35 per _Kiloliter_ of suspension.

Should that not be Cr 35,000 per Kilolitre of suspension?

and the rest of the table is the same order of magnitude out as well.

Regards,

Ewan

Referee's Companion - Errata or Addenda

In the Referee's Companion, the mapping chapter talks about a "continental map". Anybody got a clue on that?

Check Referee's Companion, page 90... Which is the Continental Map Form. No errata here.

I did more than just check the Referee's Companion. I retypeset the entire book.

Page 90 is the local map. It is addressed in the paragraph after the continental map.

THE CONTINENTAL MAP
"The continental map shows a hemisphere of a world-half of the world shown on the world map (Which isn't in the RC either). Its primary purpose is to allow greater detail to be shown on a restricted area.
In addition, (like the subsector map,) it allows the referee to focus the attention of the players on a specific part of a specific world."

The local map doesn't show a hemisphere of a world half.

So the question remains, which maps do we add from which other version of Traveller?

We don't; you're looking at the wrong page. The continental map is 6 sides of the icosahedron. It's labeled clearly "Continental Map". If you're counting the PDF pages, the page shown in the toolbar is 2 higher than the page number shown on the page due to the covers.

You're creating errata out of thin air.

AHA!

Both my dead tree copy & my electronic copy 1st Edition (MT CD) go from page 88 to 91.

No page 89 or 90.

Definitely errata

However, I just went over to Drivethrurpg.com & bought another copy of the Referee's Companion. The Referee's Companion there is also 1st ed, but it has page 89 & 90.

MeT 1987: Player's Handbook p87: combat scales

I've found a problem not covered by any errata I've seen. but I don't know what the solution is. The combat rules have a sidebar on "Definitions", which states that distance scale can be 1.5m/hex indoor OR 15m/hex outdoor, but that combat rounds are always 6 seconds. This doesn't make any sense.

EITHER outdoor movement is 10 times slower than indoor movement (unworkable?)

OR outdoor turns last 60 seconds and allow 10 times as many attacks as indoor ones (problematic)

Suggestions for a suitable errata fix please. Thanks.

Lindsay Jackson

Keep movement in Hexes and outdoor movement and ranges ARE 10x faster/further than indoor.

Running full speed the length of a football field will be much faster than running 100 yards through a hospital or apartment building with turning corners and opening doors. In combat, one might end up engaging an enemy from 100 meters (7 x 15 m hexes outdoors) across the football field (outdoors). One would be far more likely to encounter the enemy at 10 meters (7 x 1.5 m hexes indoors) than 100 meters (67 x 1.5 m hexes indoors) along a building corridor (indoors).

Good luck with a more 'official' answer than my best guess.

No real errata needed; a page reference would be nice as an addition. Just note the movement rates chart on p74 of the PM. Speed on indoor squares is 10x Speed, while outdoor 15m and larger are 1x, and 150m and 1500m squares use longer rounds.

Clarification needed?

On the Page 64 Scale Efficiency Table.

Should Improved Internal Combustion Engines also have the same efficiencies as the Internal Combustion Engine?

Best regards,

Ewan

Players Manual - Merchant Prince Character Generation

Pre-Enlistment Options.

Pg 60 under Pre-Career Options, the choices are college, the Merchant Academy (after enlistment) and medical school

The check list on page 65 shows the Pre-Career Options as A. College, C. Medical School, and D. Flight school.

What do we want to go with?

Change Flight School for Mercant Accadamy and rearange the letters. IMO:

A. College
B. Merchant Academy
C. Medical School

Also on page 56 Scouts the choices are College and Medical School. While the list on page 65 has flight school in addition. Suggest dropping flight school from the list on page 65.
