Extended System Generation

Currently, there are no Extended System generation rules for Mongoose Traveller

Over the years, as well as CT Book 6, Grand Survey & Grand Census, MT World Builder's Handbook, TNE World Tamer's Handbook, etc., there have been numerous homebrew fixes by various people far more knowledgeable than I about stellar system formations

what would be the interest in having one of these written for Mongoose Traveller, taking the best of all existing systems, and including a flow chart to make programming the generation in your choice of language or application as simple as possible?

If such a book did exist, I would make the following assumptions
1. It must be possible to generate a system from scratch
2. It must be possible to generate a system from a mainworld
3. It must be possible to generate a system from a mainworld and known stars

Would it be necessary to ensure that it produces star types and frequencies that mirror the existing Traveller Universe?
Or would it be OK to assume that these already generated and the Extended System Generation need only be used to fill in the blanks?
 
I've also written my own. Its for times when I feel like rolling dice and playing with a calculator instead of just using Stargen for a basic system. It would not be considered 'Traveller' by most people. But it works for me because I'm not that OTU oriented anyways*

In my opinion, the UWP procedure has been broken from the very beginning and each new version has been forced to be backward compatible, thus the broken bits has always be present ( and probably will be forever ). It should be redone from scratch.
But it won't be, because whatever systems it would generate would not match anything that has come before. A proper system wouldn't be able to make a subsector that would be recognizable within the OTU.
I just don't feel that the standard procedure is fixable.

*...WarpWar(like) universe with a touch of Masamune Shirow and Maschinen Krieger instead.

So have I, testing it and error-checking it now.

Seems to work but as Ishmael says, to keep it canon means keeping some of the more problematic aspects of what has come before.

Regardless I hope to go public with it in a month or two and see what people think. Takes the survey protocols from MGT Scouts and assigns sensor tasks which allow you to generate/discover stellar analysis and UWPs, generate subsector, system and planetary maps and determine natural resources, climate and animal encounter tables based on the survey. Also incorporates new and expanded rules on gas giants and skimming as well as slingshot maneuvers.

Which is why I really didn't bother keeping anything but the basic modalities.
 
If a system's important enough to need system data, I generally just invent it. (Allows for it to fit whatever you want it to be. (I also do that with UWPs when I'm writing sectors, generally.))

If anyone feels like writing 128 pages on this subject (a complete book), they should get in contact with me...
