FASA Behind Enemy Lines (CT WW2)

Here is another interesting book

Osprey's study of infantry tactics of the squads and platoons of World War II (1939-1945). Despite all technological advances, final mastery of any battlefield depends upon the tight-knit group of footsoldiers trained to manoeuvre, shoot and dig in. This first of a two-part study examines the methods by which the Western infantry of World War II - the German, British and US armies - actually brought their firepower to bear. Drawing upon period training manuals for the evolving theory, and on personal memoirs for the individual practice, this first book covers the organization and tactics of the squad of ten or a dozen men, and the platoon of three or four squads. The text is illustrated with contemporary photographs and diagrams, and with colour plates bringing to life the movement of soldiers on the battlefield.

This would be a commando raid to rival the Guns of Navarone, an attack on the Nazi Atlantic Wall, at the Fjell Fortress, located on the island of Sotra, Norway.

The turret with 3 28CM guns, is actually the C turret from 'Gneisenau' - the german WWII battlecruiser, sistership of the 'Scharnhorst'. The ship was damaged in an air raid in 1942, and it was decided to remove the main guns and employ them in the coastal battery role.

In the darkest days of World War II, the British planned a daring airborne operation to capture the secret of the new German radar. Lead by Major John Frost, a company of paratroopers dropped into Bruneval on the French coast, and quickly neutralized a small German garrison. Then began a desperate fight for time as the British tried to dismantle the German radar and evacuate back to England, as ever more German units converged on their position.

You folks DO realize that the writer/designer of Behind Enemy Lines was William H. Keith, of Traveller fame? While the game isn't actually Traveller rules, it has similar design choice.

Oh yes, very aware, I have a lot of FASA Traveller stuff by him. Thats why I posted this in the CT section. I hadn't looked at it closely enough to know, I was going by a post where someone said it was based on CT.

I have a lot of his writings, under his pseudonyms as well

As William H. Keith: Android Free Fall; Warstrider series; Mechwarrior stories
As Keith Douglas: Carrier; and Seal Team Seven series
As Ian Douglas; Star Carrier; Star Corpsman; Heritage Trilogy; Legacy Trilogy; Inheritance Trilogy series

I didn't know he also wrote under the pseudonyms H. Jay Riker and Robert Cain as well
