French Traveller

You may have just given me a reason to try and learn to speak French again ;)

Good luck with the project Phillipe, I hope you will ship them to the UK

I'm a bit late with the translation ... I wanted to finish the first version for september, but so far I'm only finished with the Library data, Characters & Combat, CotI and a few other bits.

Well, things are not so rushed, there's still more than a year and a half before the actual publication.

Anyway, I've started to work seriously on :
- the layout (here are four sample pages : http://tromeur.com/punbb/forums/viewtopic.php?id=119 )
- logos ( http://tromeur.com/punbb/forums/viewtopic.php?id=116 )

And, if you read French, you are still cordially invited to participate into the various debates on the forums ...

I'm now finished with the text of the rulebook.

In 160 pages, we mannaged to fit :
- Some 8 pages of full-page art
- Library Data A-M and Library Data N-Z, except the chapters about the Spinward Marches and the Solomani Rim
- Traveller Book (with starship combat rules replaced by the ones from Starter Traveller), except the 2 short adventures
- Citizens of the Imperium, except the sample characters, and updated according to "The Spinward Marches Campaign"
- Aliens for Traveller (that booklet with rules for Zhodani, various Humaniti, Aslan and Vargr chargen)

I will add some 16 pages of :
- deck plans
- forms
- an index
- maybe a short scenario

I'll be at GenCon France (in Paris) this week-end if you want to browse the book.
I'll run games at the GROG area on Friday, Saturday morning (not sure) and Sunday.

The german version was cobbled together from the original book set, including Mercenary, Merchant Prince, Scout etc.

Translation was lousy and the rules often unclear. Done by FanPro and still hurting Traveller in germany 10 years after it is dead and burried.

The book will only be published in June 2007 ; there's still some editing, layout and illustration to be done (and I want to be finished with at least 2 supplements before the corebook hits the shelves).

Not really. The corebook was a strict translation of The Traveller Book (with "Mission on Mithril" replacing "Exit Visa"), and "Traveller II : Söldner, Scouts und Handelsprinzen" was a big supplement including Book 4,5,6,7 + bits from JTAS.

Damn, it is unlikely that I will be in Paris in 2007...make sure you broadcast it wide and LOUD when you will have a site that accepts ecommerce, so that I can get my hands on this as relying on to reach Quebec is too much.

Two large (A4) volumes that composed a number of the original books.

They never made clear what the relationship was, why there where two design systems, that some CharGen rules had optional variants (Death during chargen) etc.

And the translation was ugly in places, the Bolzengewehr being one of the favorits
