GenCon UK

They are having it this year? I had heard it had been canned due to cost, but that was quite some time ago. Heya Shane, how goes it man? Long time no see :D

Although not a notable I'll be there. I'll probably be wandering around in a BITS t-shirt for some of the event.

Any thought on a time and place for a meet, Shane?

See you there if you’re going.

I won't be there. In the battle between Gencon UK (Minehead) and Gaelcon (Dublin), I can be in Dublin quicker than Minehead, more easily and probably just as cheaply.

However, I am planning to be at Dragonmeet in London on the 4th December. Anyone planning on going to that?

Cheers

Hello,

I expect to be there as usual with the BITS crew.

You know that Devon village which was washed away at the start of the week? Minehead is about 30-40 miles East-Northeast along the coast from there.

...and about 25 miles from the nearest railway station (and I used to think the taxi fares from Reading station to Gamesfair were steep...).

Hi Jeff,

I'd like to very much, depending on how many players I get obviously. I was just thinking last night that I should post something on the London Travellers mailing list soon.

Classic Traveller again, or can I tempt you to GT or T20 this year? :)

BTW. My mobile number has changed. Assuming yours is still the same I can text you my new number.

Hope all is well.

Cheers

I’d be interested. Any suggestion of where or when? Is London central enough for people? Where in London?

London is OK for me - most weekends anyway.

It depends whether you want to hold a CoTI meet-up at a show, in which case Dragonmeet or Salute are probably your best bets.

If it isn't tied to a show, almost anywhere in central London is good, but I'd suggest something like the pub in Museum Street (opposite the British Museum and just round the corner from Playing Games) or the pub just down the street from Leisure Games in Finchley (Northern Line tube to Finchley Central and just up Ballards Lane towards the shop).

Somewhere not to far out of the way in London so those who would need to get trains home are able to. I know there has been one or two meetups in pubs but I have been unable to attend any so far.

Then somewhere inside the Circle Line would be good. I'm coming in from Kings Cross and you will come in through, what, Charing Cross? Maybe somewhere around Tottenham Court Road or Covent Garden would be good. Alternatively, there used to be some really nice pubs down Fleet Street (I ran a Traveller game in one for about six months).

A big empty pub is a cool place to meet - The Cock on Fleet Street is easy to get to (Temple tube, bus from Charing Cross) and is often lacking in persons (and has a mezzanine (?) floor with sofas).

There is a pub called (IIRC) Bullfrogs that is in the back streets off Charing Cross - Its always empty (Its a Spurs pub for football (yes, at least one exists) and as a Gooner I remember sitting with 4 spurs saddos watching the mighty Arsenal take the championship at the home of the enemy!). That might be a good venue as it is quite spacious.

On a Saturday, The Knight's Templar on Chancery Lane is always empty and is very big).

Can a date be arranged for a London gathering?
