Fusion takes 10 years ... cheap, reliable Fusion is ALWAYS 10 years away.

Thorium reactors are MUCH better for our TL. Non-existent fusion isn't economically viable.

The difference is that you need to "mine the sky" to get at the energy, rather than needing to "mine the ground" to dig up your energy sources.

Best part is that the solar fusion reactor is fueled for "millions/billions of years" and requires minimal maintenance.
