Imperial Army/Marine Rank Insignia

SOC-13
Hi,

Is their any official source of rank insignia? IMC I used the following (using Book 4 ranks):

Ranks (worn on sleeve, Chevrons pointing down, sunburst worn above chevrons)

Private:
Lance Corporal: 1 Chevron
Corporal: 2 Chevrons
Lance Sergeant: 2 Chevrons and sunburst
Sergeant: 3 Chevrons
Gunnery Sergeant: 3 Chevrons and sunburst
Leading Sergeant: 4 Chevrons
First Sergeant: 4 Chevrons and sunburst
Sergeant Major: Large Sunburst

Officers (Pip is Commonwealth type pip, star is US type star. Worn on shoulders, sunburst at the bottom)

2nd Lieutanant: 1 Pip
Lieutenant: 2 Pips
Captain: 3 Pips
Major: Sunburst and 1 Pip
Lt Colonel: Sunburst and 2 Pips
Colonel: Sunburst and 3 Pips (worn with SB at bottom, a pip above and 2 pips next to each other above, like Commonwealth Brigadier)
Generals: US Stars (1-5)

You missed it! We hashed this out last fall in the Lone Star, under the topic "Imperial Uniforms and Insignia". IIRC there is no "cannon" answer, and people tend to use whatever insignia system they are comfortable with. Many use the US system, which is at least better than the Russian or Wehrmacht.

I have always liked the logic and clarity of the British system, and especially the current practice of wearing it on the center of the chest (at least with Parkas). I like your variant.
I think American NCO chevrons fit better than British, but YMMV.
