JTAS contest #21

PVernon

SOC-13
Knight
The new ship design contest is up at JTAS :D

----------------------------------------------

Design a 1000 dton Mercenary Cruiser with the Following Parameters:

1. Its intent is for "All-Conditions" Operation, Therefore it must
have a hull capable of reentry, if not a full on Airframe. Other
features could be tailored to fit its mode of employ, such as
auxilliary vehicles/craft, etc.

2. It must be in the high tech Range (13-15) and should be designed
with Mass Production and ease of use in mind. There is no limit to
cost, but it should be affordable, with a focus on top of the line
miltary hardware for Mercenary Operations of a High Order. Perhaps
the details of a Specific Mercenary Program could also be submitted
to sweeten the deal.

3. It must support no less than 3 Mission-Specific Detachable
Modules, each with its own independent Computer, Power Plant and Fuel
Reserve. These should be designed to be added/removed in a short time
period, for the sake of mission readiness.

4. It must be capable of suporting Double the amount of Power Plant
Fuel to the Main Power Plant and life support, to simulate extended
in-system operations.

I have posted the submission Deadline for November 21st, with a Vote
Deadline on Dec 1st. This and all aspects of the project are of
course negotiable, and I am open to any suggestions you may have...

If all is acceptable, then its,

Gentlemen, Start your Drafting Tables!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Change of Dead Line:

This is fine by me... So lets say, November 30 deadline, and Dec
10th? This gives ample time for all to pull out any stops, etc.

-------------------------------------------------

Come on over and join the fun!

Meaning, The ship should be able to operate in Atmosphere, Water, and
Space equally well... It should display hydrodynamic and areodynamic
qualities in the overall design.

This is Optional, perhaps you would like to outline a "Hammer's
Slammers" Type group or some such, or perhaps not, its up to you.

This is not Optional, and is part of the challenge...
I had something a little "Thunderbird 2" in mind with this. Here are
some examples (and Yes, you can use Small Craft for the Modules, but
they must be designed new, and not "off the shelf"

Some Examples...

A Fast Attack Mission Module: Holds crew and squadron of grav bikes

An Underwater Operation Module: Holds Mission Team, Equipment, and
several 1-ton "Hydrosleds" or some such...

A Mobile Feild Hospital

A Combat Engineering Module: Holds Military Excavation Vehicles, etc.

A Command Center Module.

An Artillery Module

etc.

Again, Sorry for the mix up, or whatever that was, The MSN site is
OPTIONAL, if you want to post any things that fall outside of the
plain text Data (images, Deckplans, what have you...) Please feel
free to use it. It will be up for the duration of the contest. It is
unmoderated, but I think you need to join to post stuff, as with any
such site... THE CONTEST AND ITS OUTCOME WILL BE POSTED HERE, ON JTAS.
IT IS NOT BEING MOVED ANYWHERE.

THE NEW DUE DATES ARE:

DEC 10th Submission Deadline
DEC 30th Voting Deadline

In Passing, I would like to State that this is not "Replace the
Broadsword Mk. II" Contest. Regardless of the past contests and such,
This should be approached fresh, You can repost anything you think
will fit the parameters above, but let it be known that the design is
a rehash/remodeling, etc.

Well voting has wrapped for JTAS Design Contest #21 and the winner is...

ME?!

Wow!

Who rigged the voting?

So, coming up, the most evil design contest this twisted brain can conceive...

Muahahaha

...or not, I may just have to go with something boring ;)

So stay tuned for an announcement by your's truly or the ever faithful Peter Vernon to come join the fun, er, torture, nono, fun, I had right the first time, ignore the torture reference and all the screaming

No rigging at all, Milord, the voters merely knew a Great design! Have you won one of these before?

Nope. My first trophy, having only been in the game a tic longer than yourself, though too often out of the running for lack of time to actually complete the assignment

I posted an outline of the Contest 22 proposal over on JTAS today, kind of a "Junkyard Wars" In Space theme ;)
