megacorp espionage

Mythmere

SOC-13
I need some ideas for adventures for a megacorp special operations team. Cyberpunk kind of stuff, but in the Traveller universe. Anybody doing something like this, or have some ideas?

Hey Myth. How goes?

As for your query, I would need to know what rules you're using. Otherwise, you'd need to have the standard crew.... Hacker, Con-man, two Muscle types (both with weapons and quiet styles), one intrusion specialist, one extraction guy.

That help?

This is very similar to the campaign I'm running right now.

Some suggestions:
Break into rival facility to steal new product.
Break into rival facility to extract researcher.
Break into rival facility to sabotage new product/research.
Hack and/or break into rival's offices to plant damaging/embarrassing evidence.
Hack and/or break into rival's offices to transfer money into untraceable accounts.
Hack and/or break into rival's offices to steal shipping schedules, then sell info to pirates.
Assassinate employees/board members of rival.
Frame employees/board members of rival for crimes.
Dig up dirty secrets, then blackmail employees/board members for rival to gain access to/control of something/someone important.
Seduce, then blackmail employees/board members for rival to gain access to/control of something/someone important.
Frame/set up, then blackmail employees/board members for rival to gain access to/control of something/someone important.
Manipulate stock market/public opinion to drive rival out of business.
Leverage buyout/takeover of rival or rival's key subsidiary by using all means listed above (makes a great campaign).

I love this sort of stuff.

Cyberpunk is what paranoia is made of...

* Neutralize the security system of a research lab while a strike force breaks in and rescues a test subject from her cell there. And while they're at it, search for specific, politically damagaing transaction records (with a Zhodani corp, for instance).

* Prepare a public-opinion bomb against an uncooperative local (subsector) coporation: hack a ship's systems to accelerate into & detonate a bulk freighter, then plant a chain of evidence to make it look like it was that corporation's fault.

* As part of the megacorp's interdiction of a recalcitrant world, locate and hijack the world's central communications grid. Cause specific types of havoc in specific cities. Build virii to destroy key infrastructure. Then get hired by the worldgov (as independents) to 'fix' the problem...

* Hack the TAS net of a local system in order to influence the voting public to approve of certain unpopular bills introduced into the legislature. Something like allowing martial law to be declared more easily, or allowing certain megacorporations more trade incentives, or allowing industry more leeway with surface exploitation...

I intend to do a governmental version of this. The variant I intend to use is to base the group more on the "Special Operations Mission Group" from WEG's old Galaxy Guide 9.

I always liked the "pizza delivery" from Joe Clifford Faust's "The Company Man". In other words, targeting a key employee of a rival corporation for deniable harrassment in hopes of making his/her life hell and disrupting productivity. This runs the gamut from ordering bogus subscriptions to eyebrow-raising periodicals to blue-boxing the phone system and ordering 20 large pizzas in the persons name, to planting evidence of an illicit affair to outrage the spouse... you get the idea. Nothing so crass and crude as the shaved apes showing up and issuing edicts, mind you.
