Meshan Saga

I came acrost the Meshan Saga, and HIWG document, available at fspacerpg.
Ten dollars for it on disk with other fspace.rpg stuff.

My question: Is it worth getting? Has anyone ordered from this company? Any complaints about service etc.?

I brought a cd of Fspace material, but then again I walked up to Martin Raitt in Wellington, NZ, handed over $10 and he handed me the disk. I was quite happy with it. Good background SF RPg stuff to go with all the other fluff I have collected.

Personally I wouldn't pay for any HIWG material, the signal to noise ratio is just way too low.

Have you checked online to see if it's available for free? A lot of HIWG stuff got posted to the web a while back.

Lacking time to do a detailed search, I was hoping someone had a link for this or other available materials.

I've found Signal GK 1-4a, Tidewater/Terra Traveller Times, and Third Imperium Fanzines/newsletters. Some of which I have in dead tree format.

I'd like Imperial Lines 3/4, Most of the Coreward Fanzines and Others. Unfortuantely my employer blocks or filters content titled "games" so I have trouble getting some downloadable materials. For instance, I can get Stellar Reaches online, but the new Frontier Report fanzine is blocked.

If anyone reads this thread an can help I would appreciate it.

About the FSpace & HIWG NZ/TMS CDs

Hi all,

FSpace Publications is a team of people who were involved in HIWG NZ and it's Traveller efforts from the mid 1990s to early turn of this century. We did mainly some stuff for Meshan sector, published 10 issues of the Meshan Saga fanzine, did some artwork for some other fanzines, AABP, Starburst, and even secured a licence to publish commercial booklets for Classic Traveller based on Meshan Sector.

The commercial book project folded after a spilt with one of the authors, and rights were withdrawn to his material, which has also seen the Meshan Saga withdrawn from circulation.

For a while we sold the HIWG CDROM done back in 1998 for NZers. We also sold a TMS CD including the HIWG NZ materials including The Meshan Saga. We don't sell it any longer, but Noble Knight Games (http://www.nobleknight.com/) did have some copies in stock at one point.

The FSpaceRPG CDROM is actually a CDROM to support our own FSpace Roleplaying game, with different editions released in 1999, 2000 and 2001. It also contains a lot of other software resources for other RPGs, or for use by gamers. We either had permission or sourced them from public domain sources. We just happened to include our Meshan Saga issues on the CD as well. It doesn't contain the other HIWG NZ documents that weren't included in those issues.

The 2001 edition with the TMS issues is still available. We have a few remaining and a few are available from Noble Knight Games as well.

For those in the UK, our chief editor may have some CDs sitting around, and Leisure Games in North Finchley has some Reference Manual pack samples (and includes the CD) we sent them buried in their storage they never put up for sale.

Beyond that, these are the only means to get our fanzine right now, since they were stock produced before continued usage rights to certain material got withdrawn.

We do have our commercial publication materials sitting here and are awaiting Marc Miller to get back to us about reactivating the license, but I think with T5 and other matters we are small fry these days.

We are continuing to investigate the future release of that material.

Anyway I hope this clears up a little of what all these HIWG and FSpace CDs are we did.

Cheers

Martin Rait

I try to make older HIWG material available. I pulled it off the net as I was contacted by several persons that wanted ither their or other type of material pulled for various reasons.

If someone else are selling or still hosting a HIWG CD I think they should stop as there are legal issues. As I have mentioned in a another thread, it is better that the original authors contribute their own material. My site will gladly host the material free of charge.
