I used pretty much the same idea.

If a stat is reduced to 0 you get a save vs. losing consciousness - roll 2d and get less than or equal to your End (and bad luck if it was your End reduced to 0, you don't get a save).

Like you I also immediately raise the 0 stat to half its unwounded value in the event of a successful save - ain't adrenalin wonderful. Speaking of which I had a medi-kit autoinjector that could inject stims in the event of a characteristic being reduced to 0 - this would work even if it was End reduction.


Note that the effect of these house rules makes a serious wound much more likely if you continue to take damage - you may be able to 'soak' a couple of minor wounds in this way, but once you are reduced to half your original characteristics in all three then a subsequent hit is much more likely to reduce two characteristics to 0.

Yep. It makes unconsciousness less likely, but it also makes gunshot wounds result in serious wounds (as, some would argue, they should be).

Some would call that more realistic.

But, it is harder on PCs.
