Saw the end of an ad last night so I don't know which Doctor it is but I think it's new:

Doctor Who, the Christmas Invasion

Description: Christmas becomes a time of terror, as the whole of mankind falls under the shadow of the sinister alien Sycorax.

Showing (Canada): CBC - 12/26/2005 (check local time, I use Zap2it for program listings, it's not too bad most of the time)

Check out the BBC's Doctor Who website for a TARDIS landing like no other...

Glad to see also UNIT was rehabilitated and that new episodes will be added to CBC's roster.

I will try to add the Christmas Invasion to that VHS tape for our depraved American cousins but I heard the BBC is issuing the DVD of the entire series on Christmas for Canada & the United States.

So, how was the Christmas Invasion...we have to do it with commercials and it is coming up to being 90mins long.

It was pretty good. I think DT is going to be a great Doctor, although he spends half the show either in bed or doing Arthur Dent impressions. The end was a little unexpected, but it sets up the Torchwood spinoff nicely.

God it was good, when Tennant got to do Ecclestone impersonations it was excellent. And I got the complete first series on DVD for crimbo (at least an IOU for it as BCA didn't deliver on time for the 3rd year running). And we're getting K9 and Cybermen in the nect series come spring.

Prelimary comments

-I think that should have let Tennant keep his original accent.
-Who has always been about colour and the swordfight went on a tad too long.
-Glad to see that UNIT was front & centre.
-The cyberman look like armoured knights...but on the whole quite excellent.
=Miss Ecclestone, however.
-Look forward to seeing season 2.

Torchwood, now, humanity thought it was in trouble...wait until the neighbours hear about that. They still haven't developed FTL...the Martians will no doubt have something to say. And, way, way too many commercials.

Torchwood is meant as a spin-off, a sort of Doctor Who with attitude, I wonder if CBC will pick it up as well...

Doctor WHO vs the Klingons!

Fantastic!

Love David Tennant. Prefer him to Ecclestone by a wide margin, but if I hear one more person say, 'He looks like you, Wayne' I'll... well, I'll... just have to go out and buy a brown pinstripe suit!

Why oh why did they make Harriet Jones a bad guy!? They spend all that time building her up to be a good, honest, decent PM and then frak it in the last couple of minutes. Makes Torchwood look interesting, though.

Can't wait for March!

Not true, at all, I still have the honourable membership in the "Bring Back Bill Hartnell" fanclub.

Out of all the Doctors, however, I rather like Peter Davison's portrayal and I think he just suffered from one actor dominating the role for longer than he had to.

This'll porb only make sense to UK viewers, but a mate's dad said on seeing the alien leader take off its helmet:

"Grief, it's Cat Slater!"
