MT CD ROM CORRECTIONS - Please assist

This is perfect! Except that the Referee's companion is named the referee's sourcebook and is with the rest of the books.

Nice Work.

Not on "my" disc, the link from the page goes nowhere and exploring the disk reveals nothing...

there is no (properly named) Referee's Sourcebook.
(cover scans on http://www.drivethrurpg.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_24; of course, the books in my crates also match those scans...)

And when you open the referee's sourcebook, the scan is for the referee's companion...

I figured it was just a bad naming job.

The amount of material here is why, when I had the $50, I didn't order the disk...

so that is a MAJOR issue; it shows whomever was doing the scans couldn't be bothered to READ THE F*G COVER!

If these things are cleared up, and if the resultant CD gets the thumbs-up on CotI, I'll think about getting it, too. Surely that's why Marc is doing this - sales must have been pretty badly affected by the hugely negative publicity. Hopefully he'll learn from the experience. ;)

I origionally contacted Marc concerning problems with the 2300 CD (partial scans, missing pages etc).

Here is Marc's formal position on this

Some bas OCR is tolerable; atrociaous OCR, please tell me and I'll edit it.
And bad scans yes incl;ude them as well.

You can share that I am going to make fixes, so any input others want to see fixed I will also consider.

Marc

So, he is fully intending to fix the problems. My difficulty is that I only have so much time in a day to find/report problems.

So, PLEASE, if you have a complaint, list it here. With one single source that Marc can read and address will make his job easier and also ensure that our concerns are reviewed if not acted upon.

Best regards

As noted in another thread, the "Effects" chapter in Hard Times is largely unusable because the shaded rows in the tables, as well as all of the sidebars, come out as black blots. The OCR totally skipped those blots, and is horrendous elsewhere. I haven't looked but I suspect the rest of the book is the same. So:

MTCDROM:\books\0221 MT Hard Times.pdf, 20-26, 19-25, charts and sidebars illegible

If it was up to me, I'd start it over from scratch.
