My Return to Travellers

It's been many many years since my initial First Game where I picked up a copy of the first three CT books (the week they were released) and set up a game for the following weekend at the gaming group I was in back in the 70's. Several of us got deeply involved, and I was the primary GM for many years.

I transitioned through MT into NE and my group reduced to just four of us, and soon died of internal squabbles about the time I moved the group from late Imperium to the New Era 1000 years later.

Ah well.

I sold off most of my Traveller's materials through eBay and decided I probably would never play again. Such was the problem of finding anyone else in my area that would play.

Then I came across T4 and picked up the first couple of books to review. I even tried to get involved in an on-line/email game, but that died out after a few sessions.

Now I came across travellerrpg to find the whole system is still "up and running" and going strong. GREAT!!

I'm also a Honor Harrington fan, so am looking forward to seeing that being developed.

So, are any of you as old as I am? Any old-times from the "Good Ol' Days" out there?

Welcome back, and welcome aboard MacTrom :D

You'll find lots of us "old-timers" here and some fresh faces too. Yes! Traveller lives! ;)

Hmm, I recall a survey, just a sec...

... here it is, click the link below:

Survey - How old are we?

hmm, the curve has moved some since I last looked, I'm no longer in the middle.

Hey, that was fun. I doubled the Great Googley Moogley! That makes two of us (providing the first one was legit!) Heck, I was old when I started CT!!

It was 1981. I was 13. During lunch hour in our classroom, I watched some guys playing D&D. In my ignorance of RPGs I asked one of them what the object of the game was. He replied, "To survive." I was hooked, but I wasn't sure I wanted fantasy hack 'n' slash. Then I saw the Traveller Deluxe Edition boxed set in a toy store(!) on Queen St East in Toronto. I saved some allowances and bought it as soon as I could. The rest is future.

"This is Free Trader Beowulf. Anyone..."
