New Moot Benefit: Lost Rules of Traveller

Both The Traveller Book (book p. 58/PDF p. 59) and Starter Traveller (Charts & Tables book p. 10/PDF p. 13) replicate the above differences in build times.

How about a note thanking 'the contributors, too many to mention individually'?

That's at least a kind gesture. I know how I'd feel seeing something on sale that I'd contributed to with no credit and nothing to show for it.

Well, actually, I think everyone knows how I feel about that....

I think the errata for the book belongs in the Moot thread (for now). This public thread is for why the book is in the Moot in the first place, and that I didn't credit anyone, and so on. But I'll go look at that one now.

And I just sent the people on my contributor list e-mails and copies. If you think you should be on my list and aren't, don't post here, e-mail me directly at don.mckinney@gmail.com and we'll get it taken care of.

Worked for me. I signed up for the moot for the first time yesterday.

Also MJD.... As a BJJ student I really am interested in how a trainer lost all his students with one bad decision. Can you give a hint?

basically, a really ill-thought-out venue move.

It was a university club running at the sports centre on campus. The instructor decided to move the class several miles away to another private sports centre, running at a slightly later time in the evening.

From being able to walk round the corner, students started having to make a bus trip into a dodgy part of town late at night. And the class had cost £2 a session. It went up to £3.50 a session (this was 5 years ago) plus about the same in bus fares for most students.

My cat could have seen what would happen...

MJD: I just paid $15 for an un-final-edited .lrf of a book's Advance Reader Copy, while the novel comes out in November in Hardcover. Once that happens, the edited LRF version will be probably $12. When the $7 paperback comes out, the LRF will probably drop to $5...

Paying more, often much more, for early release versions is a normal part of the book industry and ebook industry.

Can't access moot signup link

I tried to go to the moot subscription link and got an error message - several times. Will someone get this fixed please?

Yes, I've had numerous people look at various drafts of this over the years. I actually started this BEFORE I started the CT Errata... then errata became my life. But if you delve into the various topics here at COTI, you'll see plenty of postings related to this.

The intention is to make it available in the Moot for final comments, and then it will be available for download at DriveThruRPG, and on the revised CT CD-ROM (available soon from FFE).

Thank you. That is what I was asking... if the previously-announced plan of offering an "Errata & Lost Rules CD" was still there, or if it would all disappear into a "Moot members only forever" black hole.

Moot members getting access to it early (at no additional cost), and being given additional input into its final form are something that should appeal to quite a few... especially those who really want to play "by the book" as much as possible, but are frustrated by the glitches in "the book".

For those like me, who have already house-ruled over most of the glitches, it is not so much of a priority... but I will certainly buy a copy once it is up for general sale.

Strange, 10 minuters after last post, it is working again. Maybe my computer?

Added:I am now the newest member of the Moot

Ouch. That would be like crediting everyone who contributed to the errata projects...

And the people who contributed to one, but helped with the development of the other.

I suppose I could try going over two years of posts across the various forums and see what I can come up with...

You make the credit something like "Those members of COTI and the Traveller community without whome this wouldn't be as good as it is."

and then make the distribution free to all and not restricted or cost.

Just MHO.

Regards,

Ewan
