porting 2300 stuff to CT

I'm borrowing some things from 2300 to put in my CT campaign and have a couple questions.

1. Whats the conversion rate from lv to credits?

2. What would be the general Tech Level in the 2300ad campaign?

3. Specifically, what would be the Tech Level of USMC Full Body inertial armor?

1. To make it easy just go 1:1.

2. TL 12 for the Core (Earth & Tirane), in the various Arms the tech tends to run TL 6 to TL 11 I'd suspect. I suspect some of the great powers are on the edge of TL 13 though.

3. Hmm, TL 12 or maybe TL 13.

I've done a lot of converting stats and stuff from one science fiction rpg to another over the years and as far as converting money is concerned, I often find myself using the 9mm semi-auto pistol as the unit of exchange. Since most games have a 9mm pistol in their weapons catalogs (some games might call it a 'medium auto pistol' as opposed to a light or heavy), all you have to do is compare and contrast their prices.

It's inexact, I know, but it's a good rule-of-thumb if I want to convert something in a hurry. I'm sure that there are plenty of situations where this would break down under careful scrutiny.

1. Depends, a credit is about the same as a mid-1980's US dollar, which makes Lv1 = $3 = Cr3

2. Officially, it was 12 (from an old interview with Dave Neilsen in a UK RPG magazine about the TNE-2300 conversion which never happened). This maps reasonably as

TL-10 = Old Commercial Tech (commonly available and manufactured on Earth, imported to most colonies)
TL-11 = New Commercial/ Old Military (Cutting edge civilian tech or military surplus from the leading nations)
TL-12 = New Military (The hard stuff from the High-Tech starfarers like America, France, Britain and Germany)

The colonies are described as having a lower TL than this, at least in Beanstalk, where High Tech manufactures all come from off-world.

See the article on page 47 of http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andyslack/pdf/ctrrr.pdf

3. Probably 12 (New Military tech)
