Re: Interactive Story - LARP/MMORG for the whole CofI to join in, if you like or dare

Panthera is at a loss.

She examines the new object in her pocket.

Whilst doing so she explains what she's doing, in both Anglic and Zhodani, and watches the letters to see if they respond.

If it wants to talk, why won't it let me do it the easy way?

OOC: easier than I thought, if somewhat expensive, to locate a new power supply...

OOC time:

A. Yes, Ben it ate through your suit but because your suit is self sealing you did not notice until you made a detailed look.

B. The letters remain the same only the colour has shifted from Green (the first time that Panthera was in the room) to Red to Orange and now finally green but they did not change their shape or anything.

C. The Object does not respond to you looking at what is left of the body pistol. Nor do the letters respond in for either Anglic or Zhodani dialects.

D. What is she exactly doing with the object? What do you need a power supply for?

OOC: sorry, last ooc refered to the fact I've got my laptop working again. oops

Panthera wraps Ditzie up in as much clothing as can be spared, keeping her as warm as possible, leaving Panthera little left for herself. She mods her ruined skinsuit into a two piece thats unlikely to fall to bits, and steals Felix' belt (think a cross between Honey Ryder and Leela from Dr Who). Finally she wraps a red scrap around her forehead intendant style. Quite the amazon....

At what moments did the lettering change to red and amber? When there was conflict in the group?? Panthera dredges her memory...

Can't help Ditzie anymore. Have to move on. Only one thing for it

Panthera touches one of the glyphs....

Ref says:
The glyphs feel almost furry to the touch, as she touches the glyphs in sequence. The glass plate illuminates with a sparkle and forms a column of white illuminating the darkness. Dragging Felix to the light, she cruelly decides an experiment she shoves Felix onto the plate.

In an instant, there is a sparkling and nothing but dust remains. The glyphs wink for a moment before re-sequencing.

Ok, it could be a disintegrator or transporter, "What do you say, Ditzie?"

The only reply is moaning but at least the med nannies seem to be working, as the wound is forming a scab and thus far there seems to be no sign of blood poisoning.

Ever so gently she moves Ditzie's body to the plate. Once the glyphs go green again. She again punches in the sequence. The same thing, as described above happens, although, it does seem to take longer for the glyphs to re-sequence. Perhaps there is a power drain elsewhere or the object is weakening.

Alright. The decision's been made. Commited now. And Panthera would try anything once...

Kneeling on the glass plate, she keys in the sequence one more time...

Ref says:
Panthera keys in the last sequence. All goes black then rather dramatically she feels a tugging tearing her body apart.

She closes her eyes. And, opens them again find herself in utter blackness. Approaching her are is a light.

IS THIS ATRINIPR? (the Zhodani equivalent of heaven) - the stuff that those religious types would scare us as kids...

The End. Roll 2D6 and PM me the results.

Ref says:
Indeed, his boots remain, everything about his suit seems to be in working order. Only the small secretions on top and his rapidly healing scars on his body reveal that the suit's integrity was breached.

At the gateway, the gems begin their winking sequence.
OOC: Simon says same rules as before. This time, I will be a tad more generous and allow 5 attempts but in game terms they can only attributed as 2x for each player. Good luck!

Previous post did not get this image picked up somehow. Ignore the trees.

Ref says:
The light looms ever closer seeming forming the silhouette of Pivgnr (angels or divine messengers), Panthera is scrambling her brain to recall a forgotten childhood about some dead religion. Something about the tunnel and the light,

"It is about time that you showed up. Come on Panthera, get up, it is not like we got all day." says a smirking Owen through his illuminated faceplate. "There is something really interesting over here. Ditzie & Felix are in a real bad way." He leads her to a room where there is a semi-permanent soap bubble in the centre. "This I think some sort of medical facility, as when I placed by hand in the bubble, my old scar that I got back in the Navy was healed in minutes. Not saying it will cure but they way they are. At least, it would take away their suffering, what do you say? Wait before you comment...you got to see this..." he drags he down a faintly illuminated corridor to a hall filled with hanging disks and mirrors of every description. Along the side of the mirrors are gemstones.

"Welcome, I think to Grand Central Station." he proudly proclaims.

A flash of the old Panthera is evident in her face, as the shock of thinking she's in a child's fable subsides

"Bingo!"

She walks over to check on Ditzie. "Felix can stuff it. That frellnik shot Ditzie with this". Panthera shows Owen the gun/not-gun.

She checks briefly on the girl's condition.
"At this point it's either we trust this xeno-tech or she dies."

Looking around at the chamber and corridor, Panthera gives a low whistle.

"Is this place bigger on the inside than the outside, do you think? Some kind of gnostic paradox?"

She checks her new look out in one of the mirrors. Hey, not bad. Panthera would be proud. Hope Owen's impressed.

"Are these viewers? Do you think we can locate Benny this way? We have to find it. I think its language skills and dataware are the only way we're going to make contact with the 'Entity' that lives/is this thing."

Better conserve my reserves. Meddling with Mind has been dangerous so far, and I might need plenty if I have to leave here without my suit. They're gonna have to sort out that blocker-beater technique. It's a bit random when it comes to re-emergence....

Ref says:
Looking at the twisted metal and worms, Owen steps back two paces inadvertently bumping into one of the gemstones.

They begin to dance around the mirror frame in some sort of elaborate pattern. Owen replicates the pattern with some concentration and the mirror shutters slightly and there is a ripple across its surface, like a stone thrown into a still pool. The surface is no longer hard but soft and yielding. Yet when Panthera tries to do the same the mirror is hard and unyielding, holding Owen's hand, she touches it again and has the same experience as Owen. Then the mirror shimmers and reverts back.

The disks tingle slightly akin to wind chimes with the mirror resuming its regular shape.
OOC: Pressing the Stones of Doom, each character is given 3 chances to score 40 or greater. Success or Failure must be reported to the Referee. For the purposes of the game the character only tries twice. Doing things like writing down the sequences should be role played such as the recording of the stones sequence on a holocamera, etc.

Panthera concentrates on the stones, following sequence after sequence, studying the patterns, looking for some clue.

She lets herself drop into a trance, lulled into her inner mind by the shifting lights and tones. Her consciousness drifts up, letting go of her eyes and ears, and just watches the autonomic recording of memory into her cortex, the constant flow of neuronic meaning traversing the canyons of her mind. She watches, detatched, as her mental topology traces the route of the lights, the sequence that will open up the next phase. Step by step she watches the grid of memory store each one, in its precise order. Twice, it seems, the sequence has to be restarted; an error has occurred, 11 and 23. But by now her Mind is in tune with the tone, in tone with the colour, in colour with the form. Her self rushes back into control, her memory focused on that singularity, her senses in precision calculation, her patience infinite. Time passes.....

44 iterations, something is occuring.....

Her trance dissolves, and reality returns to her weeping eyes...

OOC: that was PAINFUL! Luckily I've been playing Farenheit so I've had practice....

Evil Ref is duly amazed with Klaus/Panthera's abilities
Ref says:
The mirror shimmers for a moment and then as if looking through the scanner darkly (gnostic moment, that you mentioned earlier) you take a step forward suddenly all dissolves. Owen grabs her hand.

After travelling down a winding, twisting hole that would make Alice puke and give an earthworm the jitters.

Blinking, Owen, Panthera find themselves face to face with a rather nasty looking Merc and a friendly Hiver face.

"Benny! Been making friends?"

Panthera sizes up the merc; her grin is still flashing, but her eyes are cold and heartless.

"What's your story, tough guy?"

Hand on hip, other behind back, near to where the ex-pistol is stuffed into the belt...

Ben's head shakes enthusiastically, but also in the background continues to run simulations of the stone board... the tonal language of the machine both fascinates him and eludes him...

He envelopes one of Panteras hands and shakes it vigorously...

"This is Mr. Zeke. Reformed Antagonist. Which reminds me..."

Ben detaches the cylinder from the back of Zeke's Armor and pockets it.

"He may be disloyal, I am not sure. He has active armor of some kind, but is also in the same situation as we. I have begun laying the foundations of his transformation into a productive member of society.."

To Zeke:

"You were outside. Pointing plasma guns at us. Were'nt you...? Don't give us any trouble; I'm really not in the mood"

To Benny:

"Ditzie's been hurt; Felix shot her, can you believe it? They're both back in some medical facility there; condition, unknown, now we're here."

The headache is subsiding a little, but the overbearing presence of the Entity impinges on every emotion.

"Gods, glad to see you, Benji. a sight for sore eyes. What have you learnt?"

Moving to Ditzie...

"This complex is a lifeform. It is being held here for some sinister purpose. I suspect it makes some inner psionic connection to hosts. It seems conditioned to respond to humans. THe fact that it has gone to the trouble of entombing what I assume are former operators, and protecting those sites with lethal force, suggest that the creature may have some form of higher reasoning, perhaps even an ethically based set of principles. A philosophy... if you will.

I am not surprised Felix shot her. We cannot be sure of anything until the psionic parameters of this entity are quantified...

"I don't know ZHODE!You tell me about me."Zeke looked defiently at Panthera."I have only one purpose here, and that's to get everyone out safely.I gave my word to Ben here.Don't forget though,I am a professional soldier, and your are still Just A Zhodani....."He trails off almost breaking his personal vow,but he didn't know there was a Zhode involved.

OOC:Zeke,if you hadn't guessed,is just slightly biggotted.

Ref says:
"We can discuss the intricate and wayward nature of Interstellar Politics later, Soldier. We have to get out of here and somehow fulfill the mission that he assigned before this object swallowed us up. Yes, I know that he might be a homicidal, egomaniac but I cannot be sure this object is altogether benign either. If there are more of these objects think what damage they could do. Psionic, eh? First, we need to tend to Ditzie. Zeke, give me a hand to place her in this chamber." says Owen.

As the lift Ditzie and pass through the membrane there is a tingling not unlike what was felt in their arrival in this bizarre place.

As they exit strange laser light beams encase her body, she moaning stops and the healing is taking place. Her eyes flutter open, eyes white as her eyes have retracted to the back of her head and out her mouth a strange energy plasma cloud is discharged for a while it bounces against the rim of the bubble before it eventually dissipated.

Ben's instruments show that she has lapsed into a comma, shaking his head, "Not sure if this is a good thing, it could be all part of the healing process that this machine doing."

Ditzie mouth suddenly opens and a course crackled whisper of a voice comes out, "Is this one to be my pilot?"

Simultaneously, there is a tingling from the discs; Ben's computer reveals that is a binary language based upon the number 7.

It translates as the following, "Primary systems inoperative, secondary systems busy fighting infestation. Host has been compromised. Danger, danger. Subsystems have been routed. Contraction and jettison recommended. Advice. " and then the message loops back onto itself.
