Role of STEWARD aboard ship

For you OTU types, I have a hard time imagining anything snootier or possibly more capable then a 100 year old Vilani butler.

you would pick up quite a bit in what, 20+ terms? Assuming he or she survives aging crisis and we ignore any caps on skills. Still, probably requires a small exo-suit of some sort to get around, with built-in tray holder.

And the family assigned them to the service of the "remittance man" of the family, some half-Solomani scion, to keep the scandals damped down. Regular Jeeves and Wooster, there.

I think my man’s maxed out on Steward, Persuade, Diplomacy, Deception, Melee (blade) and gun Cbt (body pistol) after 20 terms of that.

Stewarding people can cover quite a range of job skill segmentation, from the more administrative estate Steward, to the householdish Majordomo, to the family butler, to the personal valet, to the bag man, to the restaurant host, and the flight attendant.

Each time I scan the threads for this Mongoose subset of Traveller, my eyes want to read this thread's subject as, "Rod Stewart Aboard Ship".

an entertainer who required several stewards to support his show.

in several roles and capacities.

steward as geisha ....

OK, I'm dying at the mental picture of one of the cargo handlers (who happens to have ancestry from the same home world as the noble but wasn't born or raised there) being drafted into wearing makeup and a kimono and serving tea to his most esteemed and enlightened hindmost, and coming off like a character from kabuki theater, or an extra from a 3I re-imagining of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado...

and... AND... the passenger & their retinue are actually a team of grifters (one of whom looks the part but has never been to the home world of the noble they're pretending to be) who can't recognize how badly the crew is botching the whole thing...

Alternately: Jayne, dressed up as an absent Inara, serving tea and cakes to a bunch of confused crooks...

It's very annoying to come across a graphic that puts half the text off screen.
