Snowstorm 2016

Can you say "lake effect?" :oo:
...
I moved to Atlanta for a reason. I hate snow! I'll take a few flakes. :coffeesip:

Cheers,

Baron Ovka

Yeah. Lake effect. I'm from Chicago. ;)
I hate snow if I'm commuting. Black ice, snow blows sideways over 4 states first and ends in Chicago, Lake effect cold, and my SUV is driving behind a mini which is spinning tires.

Hmm, tomorrow night the forecast is for One Below. Sky is very clear and blue, so Anchorage weather for the next couple of days, although I am just north of Chicago.

Anchorage is supposed to be 30 and raining. Seward is, right now, 30ish and raining.

Well, over here it's 2:30 am, 22 degrees, and 70% humidity. (22 deg. C = 71 deg. F.)

So it's a little too hot to sleep, although I'm gonna hafta go do that now.

22 deg. C is forecast as the minimum tomorrow - sorry, that should read: "today". So it's not going to get any cooler. It's supposed to get up to 30 degrees (86 deg. F) today, so the boys are going to be a little warm for cricket.

In related news, I spent an embarrassing amount of time this morning mulling over why my phone was telling me it was -13 outside when every other source was saying 9 degrees. Somehow, my phone decided to switch measurements on me while I was sleeping.

For the record, both are completely believable temperatures (in Fahrenheit) for this time of year around here, which certainly contributed to my confusion. In fact, it's predicted to actually bottom out at around -13F (-25C) later on this evening. And 3-6 inches of snow expected for the weekend.

Which the weather app reported as 10-15 centimeters this morning. I was a little concerned.

This morning I was in Seward, Alaska. Seward normally gets several FEET of snow... there was green grass, light rain, and almost 40°F.

This afternoon in Anchorage (for we came back from the field trip during the morning... 4 hours by schoolbus), it was 40 and raining.

I DID see some serious snow... in Summit Lake and Moose Pass. (I've seen Moose Pass in prior years with 20' high snow-berms along the roadside outside the town of Moose Pass. This year, not even 5'.)

Friends of mine said their was barely enough snow for the Ski for Women on Feb 7th.

One of the towns near the Appalachian Trail got over 40 inches of snow during the last big storm. I know of two people who are trying the AT this winter.

It almost broke 90 degrees here today...

Thats terrible !

I've been known to wear beach shirts in cold weather to upset other shoppers. Some aren't bothered, but they tend to back away from me for some reason. Others think its funny. I've even been asked if I can read a calendar...

Presently, north of Chicago, we are at a plus 3, but with 1 to 3 inches of snow forecast for tomorrow. I hate snow on Valentine's Day.

70 and sunny at the beach in SF. No fog. Barely any clouds. Send help.

About 72 in Walnut Creek / San Ramon ... checked in on DunDraCon wrapping up.

JimMarn; Bermuda shorts and a loud tropical Hawaiian shirt in some midwest store? Is that the power of positive thinking at work? ;)

Its been a cold Kentucky rain all day.

Kentucky rain keeps pouring down
And up ahead's another town
That I'll go walking thru
With the rain in my shoes,
Searchin for you
In the cold Kentucky rain,
In the cold Kentucky rain

That is one of my favorite Elvis songs. Tells a good story.

Hmm, I have not heard from my son yet as to what he and his fiancee did on Valentines Day. They are in the San Jose area, southeast of San Fran. His blood is definitely getting thinner out there.

I bought the shirts in Biloxi, Missisippi. Wearing in an area where it snows does get me some looks. Mostly 'greatly puzzled and or consternation'. Closer to Georgia than the midwest.

It is at the freezing temperature of water here...

Keep it up, and I'll dip my cat in water and throw him at you guys. :p

Warm water. :p
