Well, it has been a mixed bag so far. Character generation got straightened out quickly and personal combat was a snap. Ship to ship combat was tougher with one player commenting that it felt like they were doing their taxes. Newbies not familiar with Traveller had a problem getting into the mileu, but now seem comfortable.After 3 gaming sessions (and 4 between paperwork get togethers) are group stands like this::
After selling all our ships and convincing the local navel commander to release into our party's hands a corsair our party captured as a group of pirates attempted to abduct or kill a noble friend of a PC, we responded to her plea of help and our party jumped to her planet to help her stake her new claim on some land. Confronting the claimjumpers (no, the local navy couldn't respond, we later found out it involves two groups of nobles fighting for power), in fierce ship to ship battle our lent starship was shot down.We are now stranded on an icy hellworld with no ship, no starport, and being orbitted by some angry pirates. The good news: at least its not raining!
Can you say "Gilligan's Island"?
Our group finds the T20 system works find for the most part and if we find a rule problem we sit down, try to find the intent, list the options, and let the referee make a call. Then its off on the run again. We do hope that an official errata gets posted ASAP to clear up some questions, though.
Well, its off to plan for tonight's run. I see that I have a tough decision to make;
like Maryann or Ginger?
