Correct in one
"subbie" is short, generally derisive, for Subsidized ships of any description.

okay version 1.8 is ready

NEW:
battle cruiser 1500t
heavy carrier 2000t
battleship 2000t

fixed menu input so if you dont do a valid
item it just re-displays the menu instead
of building a ship...

added in veh. costs

better menu

fixed some missing drive costs

i still stayed at 5 turrets MAX
for now as i didnt think it would
print all on a 3 x5 data card if this
really doesnt work give me and idea
on how to get it all on there with the
way i print the file...and i'll fix it...

the card seems pertty full right now...

NOTE:
in the larger vessels there is alot of cargo
space.....this is becuase of a random generation
of a small jump 1 or jump 2 drive normally...

you could alter this by adding in more fuel
yourself for mulitple jumps or come up with
something creative for the space...

i myself tried to add in a number of veh. to
take up space but found that later if it made
a jump 3/4 ship...cargo would go negative so i had
to create a balance..

give me an idea and i'll add it in...

were done or 99.9% there...if you notice something
really wrong or really not canon let me know
i'll try and fix it....

i'd like to take it to 2.0 with error fixing
rather then new features, but i'm open to
suggestions....hopefully 2.0 will be the final
version...

get it here:

ENJOY!

for CT to a program...these are NOT book 8
robots...much more simple and UUP friendly

help is built into the program read it first

Hey sid6.7, saw you're playing with the X-Boat and thought I'd mention a little reverse engineering I'd done on it.

Going back to the original to figure out just what the "massive communications, and message data banks" should be I came up with 12tons and MCr20 for the CT Book2 version (no power plant) to hit the correct tonnage and price. Though come to think now, that was with a model/4 computer so I'm still off :( Back to zee drawing board, some day ;)

Using that as a ballpark figure I rebuilt it in T20 (with the required power plant) and ended up with 10tons and MCr10 left for the commo and data banks, close enough in my books.

Just if you want to know what "might" have been in the background of that design. I also found the Fleet Courier has the same(?) "extensive databanks" so I may have to tweek my redesigns of it. Though the 5tons of cargo space might work for the data banks, less the commo suite, at half the price.

thanks man...i thought i was going coo coo...
took me like 30 minutes then i reliezed something
was up...for xboats...

a true canon 100t xboat per CT would at best be a lousy jump 3..
with about 14 tons of play....bare bones...

to be honest this 1st ed and 2nd edtion stuff is driving me nuts :(

in my edition i dont see where you can do without
manuver/power realisticly as it states in mine
that its need for "internal power" and manuver
"accelerations" beyond jump...

i dont think they
intended for a manuverless ship after jump
would they? it would seem so wrong...or am
i not understanding manuver correctly?
if it came in from jump without manuver
it would just keep going in a straight line
till it hit something wouldnt it? you would
really need to manuver-stop?

I think you have the right idea. But X-boats are the exception to the rule.

They are built to jump, probably with a zeroed vector, and come out at the other end just kind of sitting dead in space. Then they wait for the support craft at that end, the X-boat tender (a 1000ton maintenance, resupply, and refuel ship).

Once the tender maneuvers to the drifting X-boat it does it's thing then moves away and the X-boat is ready to jump to the next system on the route. And the tender goes back on watch for the next X-boat arrival.

The tender also serves as a stop for the type S Scout/Couriers who will report in, maybe refuel, and sometimes be given an assignment to deliver mail off route. This is often the type of job that Detached Duty Scouts end up doing.
