Standard Sized Staterooms

(snippage) When it comes to perverse, nothin' perverse about any of the pics he posted.

(snippage) Now, if it were Sgt Taura, that might have come close to being perverse, but not terribly so. (Bujold Ref...)
I'd like to see the picture before I decide on perversity - even to see his imagining of a stateroom.

(P.S. - I finally read the Borders of Infinity collection I have - I'd get more if I knew the publication order.)

Ditto...

I leave for a few days and one of the better threads on the site is effectively killed due to over-sensitivity on all sides.

I hope BTL posts more of his pictures, I liked them.
It helps a lot to have images you can show players, especially those players new to the game.

There's litte enough graphic content to Traveller as it is. Please guys, next time leave the moderating to the mods ... :(

Brom, I find your last quite offensive. It implies to me both:
1) That the expected behavior level is juvenile
2) That no one's comfort levels except the mods matter.

I know from prior discussions with hunter that neither are true.

I was made uncomfortable by the pic. I COULD have fired off a report post, but chose to take the more adult (and typically called for first) approach of letting him know I felt it was across the line.

You want more graphic content? So do I. But I don't want to be made uncomfortable by having to wait until my children are in bed for it.

Indeed, which could have been done via a PM. Then afterwards it became a public pissing match and ended with the deletion of the pics altogether. All because of a rendering of a fully clothed female facing away from the camera.

1) The pic in question was NOT "fully clothed;" she was either performing a breast-self-exam or shedding clothing.

2) BTL hinted that he was being intentionally provocative.

3) No one is under any obligation to tolerate slander and/or libel silently... and I WAS slandered by him, when he accused me openly of calling him a pervert; never did.

Public Pissing match? All along I was contributing valid points on topic, even after being slandered...

And I also asked if he'd narrow the pics a tad so they'd fit on more people's screens... Was that innappropriate, too?

Funny.
Is there a kind of bad radiation out there ?

BTW, my son (5 years) was worried more about the fully armored folks with the guns, than by this girl (he knows how girls look like, his mother is one, too)

If you found that offensive, I see why you might get upset about BTL's pictures ... ;)

Time to wave this topic goodbye, I think.

At most he should have linked his image and put in a 'NSFW' tag to caution the more sensitive that inappropriate imagery may be let loose onto their internet.

But he appears to feel insulted and has decided to punish the rest of us. Pity, I now want to see the Traveller chick fondle herself.

Enough.

If a post offends you,

a) ignore it,
b) discuss the matter *politely* with the author via PM/email, or
c) report it to the mods.

Do *NOT* start a public flamewar.

I have ruled that the pictures in question do not cross the line. Touch it, maybe, but not cross it.

Any further posts on this subject will be deleted.

'course the facilities in a ship's head don't include processing, reclaimation/recycling, waste treatment/storage, or water storage. all that is handled elsewhere, or not at all. but a starship's head must include all that, so it's not a good comparison.

You seem to think that each stateroom will have it's own system to handle it's wastes, why? People have complained that my fold down fixtures cause too many problems, but each fresher having it's own complete handling system won't. A spaceship would have a central processing system, aka as life support.

As for maintainence issues, i.e. being so much of it, what do you expect that the crews are doing during jump, playing cards 24/7. They are checking fittings which might have come loose, cabling runs, handling complaints of broken fixtures, etc., anything to keep them busy. Do you know for years that the US Military for years fought the introduction of reasonable footware for it's members because keeping their boots polished was something that could be done to use up time. Even after they went to reasonable footwear for hiking and marching, even in the field, recruits were still issued boots for parade.

As far as the headroom goes controversy goes, say you take the extra half meter of space from the 2.75 meter headroom and use it for storage lockers, say a place to store spacesuits, private gun racks, etc.. If the occupant is too tall for the 2.25 regular space, these racks can be modified or folded out of the way.

The real problem of course is that none of us are certain of a design and try to use what are esentially mechanisms approximately 5 TL's below what is being postulated. However I do like it, it is interesting to hear ideas from so many others
