Striker combat rules for CT?

Im thinking of adopting the combat rules from Striker, to CT, as it seems to avoid some of the issues with high tech weapons (auto hits from gauss rifles etc).
Same for combat movement (we'd like to use mini's in any event)

have anyone done something like this ?

Not really an answer to your question, but I actually like the regular CT rules, although I've modified them a bit.

If you want to check them out, click HERE.

May or may not be helpful to you (since you're thinking of going with the Striker system).

There was an article in JTAS about this (around issue # 18 or so I think - I'll check tonight when I get home).

JTAS #16, pages 43 to 45, Merging the Striker and Traveller Combat Systems by Michael L. Wharton.

Basically makes two suggestions:

1. separate the penetration and damage rolls, using the penetration and armour rules from Striker and the damage rules from Traveller.

2. use the target DMs from Traveller for Close and Short range bands and the Striker ones outside that.

Hope this helps.

Here's a quick question on it, David. If a shot penetrates the armour, does it affect the damage roll in any way, or do you just go straight to rolling the Traveller damage dice ?

I guess it wouldnt be hard either to introduce a "light wound, serious wound, death" basis to the damage (3D, 4D, 5D, or maybe 3-5-7 or whatnot)

Cheers!

There was a table which determined the amount of damage absorbed by the armour:

Roll Modification (per damage die)
3 or less -6 (no damage)
4 -5
5 -4
6 -3
7 -2
8 -1
9 or more 0

Hope this helps.

I just read the article and it splits the armor/pen roll from the damage roll.

So there end up being 3 rolls

-To Hit
-Armor/Pen
-Damage

Also because of the armor/pen calc, no need for the rest of the CT armor tables...
