SW minis ship battles game.

I plan to get the Starter Set for this, but I don't know if I'm going to get much more (though I probably will - at self for spending without having a job).

It might be useful for markers, with a bit of imagination.

A couple of things I like:

the ship card has a full strength side and a damaged side (we've seen that before ;) )

the weapon systems vary in effectiveness towards different classes of targets

the number of weapons on a capital ship is easy to manage

The movement system would have to change for Traveller - base it on ship agility perhaps?

(oops, in case you haven't found it, here is a link to the two sample capital ships:

Just picked up the starter set this afternoon after doing a double take on the price (yeah, I still went ahead and bought the starter set even though it costs $40.00. You will learn why in just a moment.)

At least WoC was smart to have two windows in the package so that the buyer can see the fine detail of the two big ship models included in the starter set (i.e., the Super Star Destroyer Executor and the Mon Calamari Star Defender command ship named the Viscount).

I can see Traveller fans using the Viscount as a Aslan cruiser. The other ships in the starter set are random assortment. In the set I picked up, I got the red Republic Cruiser that you see in the first Star Wars film. This miniature is another good choice as a Traveller ship mini.

Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator (SW01) might be a good kit bash for something else, maybe Zhodani. The rest of the minis are of the fighter size class from the movies. Both the Vulture and Scarab Droid starfighters are interesting. I did get a TIE Interceptor, A & Y wing and a jedi Starfighter (SW01).

All ships come pre-mounted on black stands. I'm affraid that I am going to be spending more money on the booster packs for thsi game.

I've seen five starters opened. They all had the republic cruiser and the infiltrator. I wonder just how random their random is.

This thread over at the Wizards board shows every ship available,

I'm going to wait until I can buy separates and then pick up quite a few of these - then its out with the craft knife ;)

I saw these packages at the FLGS and the ships seemed pretty big to me. I like to use smaller minis so I get a decent-sized fleet on the table without it looking like a traffic jam.
