The Big Design

Gatsby

SOC-12
OK....Here is the final BETA version of the High Guard/Book 2 Spread sheet.

Features:
-Trillion Credit Squadron Notes
-Full Book 5 Design with Small Craft capability
-Full book 2 Design
-Printout in TAS form and IN form
-Printout in design notebook form
-Blank forms for printout to use without a computer (GASP!)

Needed:
-Testers to find if I, the great one (CHOKE!), might have screwed up a digit or two....just test it out and E-mail me your notes and comments (and if you need some house-rules added!)

Requires MS Excel.

Location=
http://www.geocities.com/mscjec/Striker/STRIKERstart.html

And click on HGExcel for ZIP format download (at 221 k )

I downloaded the neat spreadsheet and tested it with a 500 ton System Defense Boat Tech 15. When I added Meson Screens factor 9 the appeared on the HG Design sheet but not on the HG Printout sheet. A zero appeared in both the item 17 box of the Weaponry area and it the USP. The screens appear on the HS Design Printout sheet.

Quite Right! Fixed it!

Testing Information:

I will re-post the spreadsheet with the week's corrections every Friday. The callsigns of those spotting the errors will be added onto the Readme page (if you want your real name, include it with the post!)

Eventually, all errors will be purged!

Thanks, again, Shadowbear, for helping perfect a Traveller tool...couldn't do it alone! Keep digging! (A 500 t SDB with a code 9 Meson Screen - what else has she got on her?!? THAT is a system you do NOT want to invade!)

Also, to assist in moving these files around with finished ships, I am working on a way to turn them into JPGs or some such thing....something easy to use on-line and group for transmission....

HoooHA! What the price tag on her?

gats'
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

According to your wonderful spreadsheet the price tag is MCr 632.13 which compares very favorably to the MCr 777.54 of the Traders and Gunboats 400 ton SDB.

If you like this one you will love the 1000 ton SDB I have plans to work up. I have about twenty ships to design using your spreadsheet including a 50K ton transport with a cargo capacity of 20K tons used to move non jumpdrive ships and short jumpdrive ships from the shipyard to the client's home world.

Stornus Class System Defense Boat

SB-A406LF2-F09900-56006-0 MCr 1335.13 1k tons
11001 TL=F
11001 Crew=39

Missiles 35 rounds

Computer Model 6 Fiber backup
50 ton Modular Cutter
Factor 5 Beam Laser (2 triple turrets)
Factor 6 Fusion Gun (2 triple turrets)
Factor 6 Missile (6 triple turrets)
Factor F Hull Armor
Factor 9 Meson Screen
Factor 9 Nuclear Damper

This spreadsheet makes it easy to adjust a ship design.

Note: I found the same problem with the Nulcear Damper as I had with the Meson Screen. (it appears on most everything except the HG Printout sheet)

Sundowner Close Escort (attempt to improve on the Gazelle 300 ton Close Escort)

EC-54358F2-C00000-50004-0 MCr. 537.98 500Tons

This is a true jump 3 vessel (No special tanks)

Model F computer and backup computer Model F
20 Ton Gig
21 rounds of missile fire
C Factor Hull Armor
5 G's Acceleration with 4 Agility

While I have not tested the Sundowner in battle, it seems it should be a bit better than the Gazelle class.

As to the error, ALL the defenses were taken accurately on the design part, but on the printouts they were - every one - keyed to a cell that was associated only with repulsors. Your field test has spotted it and they all have been corrected.

Keep testing it's limits! I'll update it on Friday.

Ok..go figure, I'm EARLY! I've update the ZIP file on Thursday! I've split the spreadsheet into:
1) Blank Forms
2) High Guard
3) Starships Book 2
4) Missiles

Note these are just design forms, you still need the books to play!

I split these up so it'll lower the memeory size. This way, you can E-mail the sheets of designed ships to firends (or enemies!) and not have to wait for up/download times as long as before.
Also fixed some bugs in the sheets and added the missile design from the missile supplement (you still need the supplement to play with the designs!)

As always- please try em out and help catch the last bugs (it's a bug hunt!)...credit will be given to all the bug killers! Let's stomp out the last of em!

Spreadsheet link (Same as previous ):

Hey Gats' there are three ships on your spreadsheets on the way to your email address!

Great Job! Still need help from the forum Travellers!

I have already re-worked the sheet...( I'll E-mail it directly to Shadow Bear and post on Friday! ).

Fixed Errors and Additions:
=The 'Batteries/Batteries Bearing' on the printout didn't convert to hexidecimal.
=Needed info to adjust for values higher than 32 in the USP.
=The Bay wepons crew calculations needed adjustment.
=Added the USP to the Design page top, to ease the job of duplicating published USPs.
=Added a note on the printout about fuel use by week and by parsec.
=Medical/Engineering Crew calculation needed minor adjustment.

Still working on:
=Type 7 (dispersed structures) configuration carries small craft and large craft at special rates, as per Trillion Credit Squadron.
--These newer formulae, however, seem to have no upper limit. Example: Dispersed structures can carry small craft at no tonnage, since it is on the outside. But, feasibly, this would allow a small 200-ton ship to carry a half million tons of small craft.....
--I can't get the battle rider Lurenti (from the Spinward Marches campaign) to come close to working! Does this design work for anyone else? Am I doing something wrong?

=I am so NOT an Exel genius.....I am still trying to find a way to minimize the size of the file for easy transferral around the net. I need a user to be able to just achieve a copy of the printout without the charts, title page, code determination charts. Is there an easy way to just get an exact formatted sheet copy of all the info on printout sheets without linking to the cahrts sheet or design sheet?

Don't sweat over it, the design (like most published designs) is broken.

I have been checking my email everyday and I did not get anything from you. Do you still have my email address?

Ran into trouble assimilating the new design options (pop-up turrets/Solomani Fixed Mounts)...it will be re-released by May 2001...

Hey Gats', are you still working on that great spreadsheet???

I have been waiting a LONG time for that update.

Sorry, got involved with:
1) upcoming new child
2) house refinance
3) new deck construction
4) retired Friday game group (due to above three reasons)
frown.gif

5) start PBeM Traveller Group (because I AM a gamer through and through)
smile.gif

I PROMISE to come back to it in the upcoming week...I have to make room in the printout for the new turret options of Pop-up and fixed mounts...

Any other needs out there, while I will be mucking around with the formatting?

(And thanks for the continued interest and support so far!)

Good to hear from you! What PBeM system are you using? I just purchased GRIP and cannot get it to run nor can I get a response from GRIP to my problem.
