Tin Heros-Miniatures for Traveller???

Just a question to get some web sources for miniatures for Traveller Games. Are there Minis, being currently produced, that can be used for Traveller Characters? With Science Fiction I can find an array of Spacesuited/Armored figures but where could I find Civilian Figs?

Does anyone have suggestions for:

Imperial Humans
Solomani
Zhodani
Aslan
Vagar
K'kree
Hivers
Vegans

Thanks in Advance,
Lord Iron Wolf

Good luck ... citadel a long time ago put out minis for traveller. Maybe with T20's gaining popularity it can become a reality again!

Grenadier also did some boxed sets (25mm), including Imperial Marines, Adventurers, Aliens, and a number of creatures from the old JTAS Bestiary feature.
The Alien set contained 2 Aslan, 2 Vargr, 2 Droyne, 2 K'kree, a Hiver, a Virushi, and an Ael Yael.
The line was discontinued in 1993, but I recently saw a somewhat battered Aliens box on sale at a game con.

I recommend some figs done for Shadowrun. (Elven hackers ARE Darrians
)
And there was a line of minis made for a tabletop called Space-Lords. Their lighter troops looked really nice.

Ground Zero games ( http://www.gtns.net/gzgstore/ ) have a wide variety of "hard SF" figures in true 25 mm. Especially the humans are very useable for traveller. - They also have a extensive range of vehicles and spacecraft. Though they are mostly military figures they have some civilian models as well.
hope that helps,

what I am about to do is very wrong, but here it goes....Nyah, nyah! I got some! I bought the grenadier minis back in the late eighties on sale in a game store in SF. I was able to get the adventurers, imperial marines (in battle dress), and the aliens. Got 'em all painted up real purty too. I should post a photo of them one day. Sorry about the
but I just am so glad I got those when I did!

You should check out Shadowforge from Australia as well. DLD Productions and Brigade models make some excellent resin and white metal vehicles. There used to be a company called Dark Star, I think, that made "Fedreral Imperial" and "Centauran" vehicles and miniatures in 10mm that were a spitting image of Imperial and Zhodani armour and infantry, their Intrepid and Astrin were particually nice. Ideal for Striker.

Table Top Games (or it might be table top miniatures) have just started to re-release the old 15mm Laserburn line, which includes loads of humans and some groovy robots and aliens. The range also includes some vehicles, such as the flit car, an air raft clone.

Not strictly miniatures, but Steve Jackson Games had a page of Cardboard Heroes with each of their deckplan sets in 25mm and with the GURPS Traveller GM's screen, which included a map of Brubecks Tavern. These hade Aslan, Vargr, Hiver, Bwap, Virushi, Ithklur and battle dree marines. No Chirper/Droyone as far as I remember. The plans were good too. They are planing on bringing out a seperate selection of near future/modern, I believe.

I've been doing a bit of a search for this as well... here's some of what I found...

Denizen miniatures Scifi line has a number of vacc armoured troops which look SUSPICIOUSLY like Zho.

Cobalt miniatures ARMEN look reasonable close to Vargr.

I just popped in to post this but it looks like Veilheim beat me to it!

I stumbled across an add for Westwind Productions miniatures in this month's Wargames Illustrated. They have a range of figures for their rules, 'Cobalt-1'. They do a range of cool looking human and alien figures. As Veilheim suggested, the Armen make virtually perfect Vargr. However for those who like the retro goldfish-bowl-helmet look, their other miniatures in the range really are worth taking a look at too.

Here's the link:

I have a friend who used to be a designer/caster for Martian Metals many ooms ago; though they're 15mm, she's willing to part with them, and I'll gladly use them until I can find better 25mm figs or QuickLink/Far Future decide to put out Traveller minis.

Or someone else?

How much interest would there be in a line of miniatures for Traveller?

I love to use miniatures, I have a big collection of the Grenadier Traveller boxed sets, but I want more. RAFM produced some ship miniatures and a few characters blisters, but the good stuff never made it out because of GDW bankruptcy. A blister called coalition team and planetary grenadiers, I have the artwork somewhere, were to be released. It was so close that when I called RAFM a few years ago, some employees remembered a few were made, and other claimed they new made it production. As you can guess, I stilled tried to order them.

I would love to see a Traveller miniature crusade. Every time this subject is brought up the thread turns into, a “well you can use these.” Yes, I can and I do, but that’s beside the point. We all should stop settling for figs with huge guns or chicks in mini skirts and demand figures normal Traveller figs to be made. All we really want is generic sci-fi figures. Star War, Warhammer 40k, and Shadow Run figs are way to universe specific. Ground zero are alright, ok quality, a little small, but I can’t find a US distributor. Copplestone’s, Future war stuff is great and should be the benchmark of the quality we all want.

We need to be united in voice and make our request heard, stop taking substitutes, and make the miniatures manufacturer know that there is market for Traveller figures and even generic sci-fi figures. How long has Steve Jackson games been talking about Traveller miniatures, March of 2000, it was mention at the JATS site in the editors section. We also, need to get Marc Miller in this to, because he has the license, and figures will help sales of Striker and other war games. How many version of travller are they, and everyone is designed to use miniatures.

Like I said we need a Crusade.

</font>[/QUOTE]Yes, or someone else, provided they were at least stylistically compatible if not good enough to be stamped "official." I have tons of pre-Warhamster fantasy lead, and would rather not have to resort to using WH40k harlequins for Zho battle-dress, or generic "modern-day" figures for civilians. The mileage of others may vary.

Must admit it'd be nice to see the ship minis again (I have a very few of the RAFM ones), and stuff like Hivers and K'kree are just too odd to be substituted with anything else.

Ooo. Someone else in the world who might actually have seen the Martian Metals Hymenopterans for Chitin:I. I wish those had actually made it to production before the factory burned...

I was going to use Legos for my game, until I found out I didn't have enough pieces to even make the deckplan of the Type S to minifig (the Lego people) scale.

Still half tempted anyway...then there's less arguing about who gets to use the 'cool' mini, the outfits, etc. can be customized easier, and you can swap out the stuff in their hands.

It would be nice to have something for ship combat though...my Mayday counters are showing their age.
