General Traveller with other systems?

I should mention that Diaspora:Traveller::The Expanse:Star Trek.
It presumes realistic reaction mass, around 80% of hull volume, and only about 2%-4% hab volume.
Further, it uses fixed routes via wormhole (it's unclear to me whether that's a keyhole drive required or not).
So, realism is OK in moderation. Too much realism stops being fun.

In any event, we leave RL physics with reaction masses and such behind at TL 8/9?

Also, why are routes fixed? That's nowhere in ST that I know?

You may be misreading; translating my analogy into text: Diaspora is to Traveller as the Expanse is to Star Trek.

Ah, I didn't understand how far the analogy was supposed to apply. I am not familiar with The Expanse at all, my ST knowledge consists of STO and TOS and such bits of TNG and DS9 that I watched before getting tired of the 'new' ST shows. I did play the old FASA ST RPG back in the 90's, but not recently, and I don't own the books.
