What can a Texas man/woman do when Lowes and Home Depot are out of your covers for the outside faucets and a blue norther is headed your way with very below freezing temperatures? IMPROVISE! Best use of a Whataburger cup I have yet seen!

Air insulation, I'd suppose.

The styrofoam is probably only a little thinner than the purpose made cover. It doesn't need to protect against a week long -20° blizzard.

Order from a supplier in the northern half of the US and get a tap with the handle outside the wall, but the actual connected valve inside the wall....

That pipe down at the bottom of the picture needs a wrap as well.
