Where to find ships?

To be clear, the Mongoose core book and High Guard are the only two that include design processes. The others include additional components only.

So - ummm - at the risk of stepping into a minefield, I ask: how good is it? Is there much interest in Mongoose ship design? Does it bring anything that might be mined to enrich the CT setting?

(I ask this 'cause the local used book shop has a boatload of Mongoose stuff they can't seem to give away.)

IMO, Small Ship Design is one of its best features - the 100-2000Td range - but their small craft design (5-95Td), and capital ship design (2000Td or more) are sub par. The added components in HG are excellent for general use.

The added components in Psion allow you to easily run the Brain-Brawn ship setting from McCaffrey's Ship Who Sang series. If you want total conversion borg, Psion's your book. It also covers Psionic Drives.

And, while not CT compatible (different approach to skill lists entirely) nor OTU compatible (due to up or out, and wrong ranks), Char Gen is pretty good.

It's everything else that leaves me cold. I don't like their task mechanics. I don't like their damage rules. I don't like their ground vehicle design sequences - either edition.
