I know Berg is interested in my settings, how about you Savage?

In fact, who is interested in my screenmonkey setup?

best regards

I'm interested in taking a look, yes. But I am cautious since.... I'm currently GMing a very successful and very active GRIP online campaign. We play every week, online, with at least 4 to 6 players showing up religiously. In fact, I dont even need to threaten them to show up. ;) So GRIP has spoiled me with a LOT of features... as well as annoyed me with tons of goddam bugs!

So every other online format out there I will automatically compare/contrast to GRIP's own strengths and weaknesses.

Alas, I'm open minded at looking beyond GRIP... because eventually, I realize that Hunter and QLI dropped the ball, and basically GRIP is a dead-end software, full of bugs, an interface as obsolete as Windows95, and the devs (QLI) have basically abandoned it. It is simply a matter of time before I wish to get rid of it myself.

The big question for my campaign is.... WHAT will I migrate to in order to replace GRIP's functionality???

What functionality are you looking for?

I found my needs supported by a suite of software.
I used seamonkey to edit the html/presentation screens.
I used open office to write all my text.
I used dungeonforge, CC2, universe and gimp for my maps
I used some custom sip/voip software that I wrote for realtime free conferencing/chat.
I used screen monkey to control the session, change maps, reveal new things to the players, and chat in character between players.
The Die rolling is also performed by a 25 line script in screenmonkey.

I worked with different software and I found the combination of the above did what I needed.

I would love for it all to be put into a single program, but, I do not believe it will ever happen.

You guys should come take a look at the FREE suite of tools called RPTools

Mal's running an excellent campaign, and taking full advantage of GRiP's character sheets...
The main thing missing is Map interaction :(
I believe this could be solved with the Maptool App from the RPtool guys...

I agree Dalton that at the moment one app doesn't handle everything one could want in their game/campaign, but their are enough free apps out there to be able to run a game the way you want.

Until then, Dare to dream... ;)

I was looking at the RPTools stuff and it looks bgood but the necessary scope looks beyond what's available. My coding days have long since past (for the time being) perhaps one of you active coders might consider approaching Hunter with plans to update Grip. I liked the feel of Grip when I downloaded it...however I (like all of us) hate bugs...
Although I web sited control of my normal game for a better sci-fi feel. I'm still using H&E and Galactic for maps.
Also we are talking T20 not CT right?

Does anyone have access to Hunter? It has been a few months since his annoucement and maybe he would be willing to sell the sourcecode to Grip?

I have no idea as to it's current revenue stream, but, I do not think it would be all that much.

If it is out of the reach of one of us, perhaps it is in the reach of a group of us.

Not sure what you mean... We are planning in using it to replace the wonky map feature in GRiP. Run them side by side like this...
GRiPing with MapTool

Agreed... It needs a few tweaks and a nicer interface...
Now to find Mr Hunter...

I use HE and Gal, but if you have CC2/CCpro then using this Gal2CC script makes trav maps like this...
