[Freelance Traveller] Seeking Assistance: Proposed Column

The column would be titled "Run and Find Out", and is intended to be a place where players or referees could ask questions about The Rules - in any incarnation - and get answers based on what has actually worked for others in actual play.

First: Would there be any actual interest in such a column?

Second: Would anyone here be willing to commit to being a source of answers for the column?

Third: Does anyone have any 'seed' questions for it?

I probably would agree that this would be a good idea for a column. Could be a big help to a lot of new players, especially new referees.

Probably better off having more than "One Source". Some people are better than others with different systems.

Third: Does anyone have any 'seed' questions for it?

Your Kidding Right?

Absolutely. As many sources as are willing to commit to being available to answer questions.

It was pointed out elsewhere that this might be a better feature for chat or forums; I'm certainly willing to entertain those ideas - and if people want to hang out in Undernet's #Traveller or Otherworlders' #Lonestar to make it a reality, I'll plug it and support it (I'm the official channel manager for both channels, and they're bridged so that - barring netsplits - what goes on in either can be seen and responded to in both (though private message between them isn't possible). Similar comments apply to the Freelance Traveller Forums, when I revamp them to have a decent web front end.

I see it as a needless duplication, Jeff. There are 3 forums already covering traveller specific Q&A... Mongoose, COTI, and RPGGeek all have dedicated forums for the mongoose edition, and COTI, RPGG, and SJG have forums for general traveller, and COTI and RPGG have dedicated forums for each edition.

Also ,with that many sources online that can give immediate responses, why would anyone want to wait a month to settle a rules question?:

why wait....

"with that many sources online that can give immediate responses, why would anyone want to wait a month "...

because someone may not require the answer to the question when it was asked... kinda like me, I don't have that much time to devote to Traveller, but I still have questions. I'd like to see answers in print (on some questions it may even be on subjects that I haven't paid attention to) to refer to, rather than waiting on someone to refer me to an older trail (or blow me off all-together).

Plus SFRPG.ORG.UK which has some really good people on it.
(Yeah, I know there is some heartburn for some, but not for me)
