In the game I ran, they had a deuce-and-a-half and a Lav. The LTC bought a tank truck and all of the fuel it could hold...

They SO guarded that tank truck with their lives...

I'd have to agree with Calcio Jack. A bicycle or an animal would be a much better choice for a vehicle, and I sometimes suggest that to a group of players if I'm not using the 5th Mech as a starting point (which I do less and less).

The other thing that stands heavily in a vehicle's favour, apart from being a mobile heavy weapons platform, is the speed. If you simply have to get somewhere fast, or at least get in a quick, speedy dash before hoofing it, a vehicle beats an animal.
