Anyone bought the Spinward Marches Map Pack

Hi,

I have seen the various map packs out there but I am curious...
What do they contain? Is the Spinward Marches Map Pack just a big map like the one that came with the Megatraveller starter box set?

Is there more? And if there is no more, how does it compair to the old GDW poster map?

Thanks,

Marc

Its a nice map, glossy in full clour with the necessary keys so you can identify bases, borders etc. It folds out so it is about 8 A4 sheets in size which is about a factor of 4 bigger than the marches map you got with MT.

But it is still just a map.

Cheers
Richard

Peretty much as the above posts -say. Its bigger, and snazzier than previous maps -its main use o far (other than oogling) is as a prop during a player briefing. Looks nice and chart-like, spread out on the table. Used a pointer and everything !

As so often before, the one book I want is the one I can't find, but IIRC The Spinward Marches has the Federation of Arden marked already. It just hasn't expanded to Utoland and whatstheplace yet.

The thing is, no one has ever spelled out what the Federation of Arden is a federation of. My take (non-canon, but AFAIK canon-compatible) is that it's the formerly independent nations of a balkanized Arden, united under the auspices of the Arden Society a couple of decades ago. National Arden Society parties in the various nations rose to power, united into a world-wide Arden Society, and unified the world.

In this take, the Federation of Arden is pretty much just another name for Arden, though there's no practical reason why the colonized worlds can't each get seats in the legislature proportionate to their populations.
