Art Sneak Peak

Excellent pictures! Are there any plans to do the BC-4 freighter? I suspect not, as the design would be about 80 years old, but one can always hope.

Here's a new version, with updated sizes. This is the final version.

I want the big blue one at the top right and the light gray one with the missile cells (a couple in from the left near the top).

This in and of itself has lead me to want 2320.

Those aren't missile cells. Those are the extendable spin habitats, in their closed position. The missiles are housed in the big engineering section aft of the spin habs.

In T20 terms the gray ship (Kennedy-class bloc II fast missile cruiser) is 900 tons, while the big dreadnought in back is 10,000 tons, and one of the largest starships built in the 2320AD universe.

Glad you all like it. We're currently working on 2320AD Lite, which should be availabe as a free product soon (-ish).

Colin,

It must be mine...

Can't hardly wait looks like we have a great project. Thanks for bringing the dream back alive!

If you are authorized to do so, can you release more art...

You want more art?

How about the dreadnought?

dreadnought1.jpg

The little turrets? Those are normal 2320AD surface mounts, with 2 high-powered lasers apiece. The big turrets? Single mount heavy lasers. The front guns? 4 heavy particle beam cannons. Heavy energy weapons are in the same class as T20 bay weapons, and even edge up into the spinal mount class. There is nothing in Human space more heavily armed than the French dreadnought (class currently unnamed). So far, France has three of these things, while both Britain and America are in the design process for similar vessels.

How about Emperor-class, with the three in service being called Ruffin, Napoleon, and Louis XIV?

Greetings and salutations,

That is a good suggestion for the French dreadnaught.

The American version can be the President-class. The first being named George Washington.

Republic class? No idea who might be good examples, but hey ... that's what we need French scholars for!

I wanna see the plucky little warships the Aussies end up fighting in - or do they just keep using American/French hand me downs? :(

Those'll be in the ship book. They use a mix of American, British and homegrown vessels, in the 300-600 tons range (frigate - destroyer), with a couple of older cruisers that serve as fleet flagships. Newer ships are of the homegrown variety, while the imported vessels are older and more battle-scarred.

These all look fabulous! I agree with Jame - this will make me want to buy 2320!

What is that thing dangling below the Myrmidon, though? It looks like a giant windmill....

It's a radiator, to help diffuse the vessel's radiated signature. Basically it's a component of the advanced hull masking the Myrmidon is equipped with.

Greetings and salutations,

I want to see what the Chinese bring to the fight. They too would have an Emperor-class and/or they would create the Sun Tzu-class. The Emperor-class would be named after leaders of China and the Sun Tzu-class would be named after notable military leaders and military philosophers.

The Manchurian vessels will be dealt with in the ship book. They take a somewhat different take on things with thier ships being either raiders or designed for ground support and orbital operations. They don't have the big cruisers nad dreadnoughts of other nations.

Greetings and salutations,

Oh. I figured with the Kafer invasion of 2302, they would have at least one for some kind of command and control. At the very least, pride and to show the other nations they can build them too. I'm reaching with this. Build one in one of the outer portions of its arm.

You know, that special project that all nations with the resources have.

that brings up an interesting point. are there starship construction rules included in the new edition? and will they include radiators as a factor in design?

great looking ships. how about the french name their dreadnaughts after variuos departments/provinces? kind of like the US names its battleships after states. (and their battlecruisers after territories...)
