Bo-heen or Boffin?

bow-zheen.
Or in Russian-Cyrillic (because it's more accurate): божинь

Boo-XEEN, where the X is actually pronounced like the 'soft' ch in German 'ich', rather than the 'hard' ch in 'achtung'.

I would think that the statement on the webpage under Boughene Early Origins:

" . . . The spelling variations of the name Boughene have included Bowen, Bowne, Bowan, Bowin, Bowene, Bowane and many more."
would render the most likely pronunciation something like "Boe-heen", "Boe-hane" or "Bowyn" (not accounting for an additional 3000 years of future phonetic drift, of course).

Which would give a valid excuse to pronounce 'Boughene' pretty much any way that seems okay to your players. PC's that say its pronounced differently must be using a different dialect, spelling, etc.

Which you can use for any world, though occasionally pulling the agitated native who starts a fight over "NO! it's pronounced THISWAYYOUDUMBOFFWORLDER!!!!!!!!!" *punchpunchwithpunchpunch* when it's convenient.

I'm tempted to say it's pronounced "Throat Warbler Mangrove", but more seriously I think it's "baa-ren".
