It looks like it can. I've got most of a fixed Safari Ship already, although I've just discovered that my copy of that has a mess of the Referee's and Player's maps...

So I need to get my hands on a clean scan of those...:(

Please keep in mind that these PDFs need to be stock standard as they are used on all platforms. We don't want any Microsoft only formatting problems creeping in, please.

Having just received my CD I'm watching this thread with eager anticipation. Just contact me if you want anything proofed on the Mac:)
 
I've turned the full issues list (from Take #2) over to Marc, and he's busy turning pages right-side up.

CT Traveller CDROM Ordered... waiting...

... with baited breath.

I've read with interest the threads in the forum regarding the CT CDROM and issues people have experienced. Reason for getting the CT CDROM for me was that I never managed to obtain any (too interested in other shiny things at Games Workshop, circa 1983).

Just wanted to say that even though I haven't got the printed CT books, I'm willing to offer help with processing of any text should any files still be a little 'tricky' to read.

I hope Marc has been able to do something with the books anyway.

Looking forward to exploring the forums having just joined up! :D

My CT CDROM arrived on Saturday, well worth it! Most pleasant surprse was the DVD case in the style of the LBB's - will look very nice on the shelf!

Quality/first impressions of the books is very good, well worth the £35 and no problems with the CDROM itself.

Looks like I'll just have to order the JTAS CD next... :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like it only covers problems with the Images and does not address the OCR issues.

Problems like CT A00 Adventure 00 The Imperial Fringe.pdf having no OCR content aren't covered at all.

Is there any point in checking the rest?
 
Actually, I'd kind of assumed the OCR was pretty bad for all of them.

But you are right; this list should have OCR issues as well... So, start reporting, and I'll start collecting again...

That's the last of them, being able to search the contents of these books has been a real enhancement to our game. Thanks to all who have helped make these available.
 
By the way, I've had real good success with Safari Ship, throwing the existing pages as jpegs into FreeOCR (it uses Google's Tesseract OCR engine) and it spitting back much better stuff than above. And it actually one-button drops into Word, allowing you to spellcheck easily. Then you push back to Nitro and it's clean.

Passing this on to Marc, as any improvement in the OCR on the automatic side saves much time on the manual side.

I'll post an update when Marc says he's got changes for the CDs.
 
I'm looking at the Spinward Marches Campaign:

You cannot cut and paste the UWP data starting on page 22 to a textfile-- the data and star columns come over separately and there are many errors in the OCR. It's almost as much work to fix it as it is to copy it all by hand. B's are read as 6's, I's are read as l's, spaces come and go randomly, and things are generally painful.

Also, page 16 is sideways.

Oh it gets worse... it's not even consistently bad!

Sometimes the UWP pages forces you to get the data in columns separately... sometimes it forces you to get them together... crazy!
 
An update on a possible additional errata issue for the Imperium boardgame based on the version now on DTRPG. It looks like a single page chart for tracking turns, resource units, and war/peace time was included in the new version is missing from the CT-CD version.

At this point, far-trader and I appear to have found a file which is on some CDs but not on others... For some of you, the Imperium Chart2 jpeg file is what far-trader is referring to.

Until we have an updated CT CD, I'm going to ask if Marc can put together a single PDF which contains the various missing pages available on the FFE website.
 
Just surfing around and came across this and was wondering if maybe it could be included in the errata? Not sure it's correct but the source seems legit. It's a short list of errata/clarification for the FFW game. Or was this already corrected into the version on CD?

Fifth Frontier War -- Errata [1 September 1981]

A. Imperial Order of battle
1. There are six, not eight huscarle troop units.
2. There are ten, not nine mercenary units.
3. The GV colonial troop unit is deployed at Garda Villa.

B. Zhodani Order of Battle
1. In the first four listings, the words squadrons and troops should be interchanged. There are seven named and nine numbered colonial troops; there are eight named and eight numbered colonial squadrons.

C. Counters
1. The Zhodani 5-2-5 cruiser with no streamlining code is streamlined.

D. The Rules
1. Game Components, The Map: There is no water coding of worlds on the stellar display; the coding is on the world boxes only.

2. Game Components, The Map: The names of subsector capitals are in red. Capital letters show high population worlds. Travel Zone amber and red worlds are shown by thecolor of the world symbol, not the color of the world name.

3. Combat, Interface, SYstem Defense: The example on squadrons attacking SDBs is somewhat mis-stated. the last three sentences should read: "On the table, the intersection of the 36 column (used for the 40 bombardment factors) and the 1C row (used for the 100 SDBs) is a 70. If the modified roll was 0, then this 70 would be the combat result. Since the modified roll was -3, counting three columns shows that the combat result for this attack is 40."
