MEGATRAVELLER REFEREE'S COMPANION
To get a concise history of every major race, plus lots of extras. I would describe more, but mine is in deep storage (waaaay in the back if the shed...)
At a bare minimum otherwise, LBBs 1-3, Supplement 4 (Citizens), and Double Adventure 1 (Annic Nova/Shadows). DA1 is still my all time favorite for new players...

This is a fan-created freeware program this is INCREDIBLE! It will do much of the work that 2D6 will do for you in the World Builder's Handbook.
No GM should be without this program.

THE UNIVERSAL GAME MECHANIC
What is the UGM? It's Classic Traveller's own task system (fan created). It takes the loose task system mentioned in The Traveller Adventure (and in a few other CT supplements) and formalizes it.
The UGM retains the CT flavor yet puts a powerful tool at the GM's finger-tips to create and judge character tasks on the spot.
