D6 vs D20/Polyhedrals

OK...T20 Gruffy hits the Barn and puts a hole in it.

CT Gruffy would need to take 5 to 42 shots to do the same?

Something seems broken with that system. Perhaps there are greater benifits to the T20 system than I first observed.

TY for helping me understand the system by practicle example Casey.

You are a gentleman and a scholar.

CT doesn't have SI or AR for walls, etc. The Book 1 combat charts give DMs against various armours for the "to hit" throw. This means you can still "miss" a well armoured target, even at optimum range for your weapon. This is also why I didn't use the armour DM in my CT Gruffty example. A very abstract combat system indeed........................ ;)

We'll say a barn is "unarmoured", giving a "to hit" DM of +5. Adding that DM of +5 to CT Gruffty's previous throw and DMs means he hits the side of the barn. (CT Gruffty: "Hoorah!" :D )

Damage is 4D - min 4, max 24. How that affects the barn is not delineated in CT.

As I said earlier, treat it as a starship interior wall.

Which is covered, although not in the core rulebooks 1-3 ;)

Adventure 1: The Kinunir was one of the first examples.

I've always assumed maximum damage against inanimate objects.

Or, in CT terms, you could use Striker. It had some rules for armour values for things. I'd have to go dig it out, but maybe somebody with a copy nearby could offer the CT/Striker version of shooting the barn wall...

yw. It's by similar example that I got back into Traveller.

For a twist what about Gruffty armed with a laser rifle firing on a g-carrier or for that matter any vehicle, armored or not? I know how to do this in T20 right out of the book but how do you do this in CT?
