planning to play T5.

That depends on cost, right now money is extremly tight, but I wouldn't mind looking it over anyhow. Eventually I probably will buy it as I own every other version of Traveler with the exception of the new new era ( 1230?).

I answered no. Why would I want to? (I know what it is, I just do not see the point of it).

I bought the CD, I didn't understand it at all. So, no.

Two local groups here are playing Mongoose, instead, backed up by source from Classic, and Mega.

Most probably not. I will take a look at T5, but it would have to be exceptio-
nally good to make me buy it. Mongoose Traveller does what I want a system
to do, and I see no need to spend money on an additional one.

I've invested plenty of money in different versions of Traveller over the years and keep coming back to CT. At this point I don't see buying another version ever again because I already have what I want.

No, but only because the OP didn't put in an option for "maybe."

Though this is closer to my actual opinion.

Much as I have issues with the CD ROM, I recognize that it was raw notes and that the people here at the CoTI have done a wonderful job of pearing it down. For there are many good things in T5 just as there is an equally number of bad things. The final product will have to WOW me like the intial offering of Mongoose/MegaTraveller for me to continue to support it. Therefore, as Marc is now obviously nearing a corner, it should be time to give aesthetics and value-added things to what is a good set of rules (notice the emphasis is on good).

Maybe. I have 2 versions that I like already, and I'm a little gun shy after T4. I want to like it, but I lack faith that I will. I haven't heard anything to excite me, but I haven't heard much about it in a long time.

I'm just curious to see how many people plan on giving T5 a try. (The final version, not the pre-release)

Depends. Will there still be an Imperium-as-we-sorta-knew-it? :)

I could care less really. I already have all of CT. And besides... Call of Cthulhu seems to have stolen my loyalty, attention, and purchasing dollars lately. I just went to my first GenCon this August, and plopped down over $120 worth of CoC merchandise. I was meaning to at least stop by the Mongoose Publishing booth and give MongTrav a demo. But I forgot to even do that, being in a rush to try out other things. It then dawned on me that trying "new versions of Traveller" doesn't seem exciting to me.

For me, Traveller is fading away as nothing more than nostalgia. It's less and less a "game that I can play these days". Nostalgia game means that I might buy it (T5) only as a collector, not so much as a gamer. And if you remove the Imperium from T5... then you remove any nostalgia I had for the game. Ooops! There goes my nostalgia collector's money/interest too.

I put no. CT and Mongoose takes care of my needs with Traveller. I have always wanted to try the GURPS Traveller but have never had the chance. T5, in my book, is a luxury at this time. When my wallets get fatter, then i will likely grab a copy, but not until then.

And oncle again a lowly Baron must stand agaist the rabble for the Empire.

While full disclosure requires that I state I purchased the T5 CD, nothing prevents me from saying it by far and away the best of the Traveller systems, at least for those of us that Travell the Third Imperium. It addresses some Holy War issue that really should end them, but probably won't. Made Advanced CharGen available for every one. Survival, well, Survival even got a face lift. And perhaps one of the biggest reasons folks bitched about, Psionic finally has a built in Timmii stop that seems to work. I have my issues with it, but then, I don't have much access to Institutes here on TL-8 Terra, but there it is. All in all it rocks and I am for sure getting more!

Actually I think the biggest reason why people bitch about Traveller is because of the setting, not the rules. T5 hasn't addressed the setting much, from what I understand.

I bought the CD, and I've reviewed the progress via the private access forum. People have put in a lot of work on this version. But it is not what I want, and will not purchase the final product.

Well, the fact that I was half-way through the first page of this thread before I realized it wasn't about the version that loses its license shortly and is based on WotC's game system, indicates that my mind was mixing up Marc's new version with Hunter's.

The level of disinterest this shows kinda answers the poll question, eh?
